Peony Sorbet: description
A compact shrub of medium flowering period, growing to 0.9 m in height, bewitches with double-flowered buds of the most delicate pink-cream shades, which blossom in mid-June. An unpretentious perennial with a powerful rhizome and strong sturdy peduncles withstanding large flowers reaching 16-18 cm in diameter. The flower of such a culture as peony Sorbet is unusual: three-layer, it consists of alternating rows of concave petals of various shapes. Luxurious bloom is accompanied by a fresh bright aroma - a kind of business card of the variety.
Decorative is not only a flowering shrub, dense, figuratively dissected leaves on strong stems and after flowering retain a magnificent shape, gradually changing the juicy summer greens to the autumn crimson.
Preferences and agricultural cultivation techniques
The enviable endurance of pions is known, they have high frost resistance, easily transferring a sharp change of temperatures and snowless winters, excellent on the soils of any structure and can bloom without getting adequate nutrition. All these qualities fully characterize Peony Sorbet, but fertile soils provide more generous and spectacular flowering.
This culture is light-loving, and, planted in well-fertilized loams with a neutral reaction to the open sun, it will surprise the first flowering for the third year already. More often, peony sorbet is multiplied by dividing rhizomes. The best time for this is August or September. The standard strain should have a piece of rhizome and several shoots, on which 3-4 growth buds are present. Planted the delenki in the planting pits of standard sizes, compact the soil (not trampling down!), Water well.
Pre-winter care
Young peony for winter mulching with humus, sawdust or wood chips, covered with special materials, spruce lapnikom, roofing felt. With the advent of early spring, the insulation is removed, as the culture begins to grow as soon as the sun begins to warm up. Adult cultures do not need additional shelter. For the winter, all the stems of the peony are cut off, leaving five centimeters of hemp above the ground.
Care of the pion
Unpretentiousness and truly unique endurance of culture are surprising, because even a complete absence of caring arrangements will not stop their bright flowering. But certain care significantly increases decorativeness, so periodic waterings, loosening and weeding under the bush are necessary. The first two years the plant is not fed, because the supply in the soil, obtained by planting, is enough. From the third year, the peony should receive food twice a season: in the spring and fall.
