"Nissan Laurel": a brief description of all eight generations and their technical characteristics

The history of the car "Nissan Laurel" began in 1968. And ended in 2002. For this rather big time interval, eight generations of this car were produced. It was mainly sold in Japan. Although occasionally this model was sent for export to European and Asian countries. The car was really good, so it's worth telling about all its eight generations in short.

Start production

Initially "Nissan Laurel" was produced in the body of a 4-door sedan. But two years after the start of production, the company began to release a different version of the model. Namely - a 2-door hardtop coupe.

The model was offered with three different engines: G18 1.8, G20S 2.0 and G20T 2.0. Their power was 105, 110 and 120 "horses", respectively. By the way, it was offered not only a 4-speed "mechanics", but also a 3-speed "automatic". However, the drive was only rear.

The car looked stylish. Attention attracted double round headlights, sparkling chrome radiator grille and a powerful hood. A special originality of the car attached to the rear-view mirrors located on it.

In 1970, an updated "Nissan Laurel" came out with a hard top. The dashboard has also been improved, and GL has been added to the lineup. In 1972 the first generation stopped producing.

Further release

Since 1972, the second generation of the model came out. The exterior was slightly transformed, but much more important was the fact that the range of power units became wider. "Nissan Laurel C130" was offered with engines in the volume of 1.8, 2.0, 2.6 and 2.8 liters respectively. There was also a choice in terms of suspension. It could be either independent or with a continuous bridge.

The third generation, which was produced from 1977 to 1980, was very popular. It was a stylish, long and low sedan with a completely renewed appearance. In place of round headlights came square, and in the body itself, dynamic and clear lines became visible. And in 1980 on the last models of the third generation, a hatch appeared. Interestingly, the engine line was replenished with a 2-liter diesel unit.

4th and 5th generation

From 1980 to 1984, the light came out the model, which was available exclusively in the 4-door body. The Nissan Laurel of the fourth generation was available with eight different engines. Of these, two worked on diesel fuel.

In the fifth generation came back hardtop. The model itself went through a significant tuning. "Nissan Laurel" began to look more elegant and solid. And the car began to be equipped with a powerful 175-horsepower engine, known as RB20DET. He was the best of all offered. It had 4 valves, 2 camshafts, electronic fuel injection and one turbine. True, the expense was quite impressive - about 10.5 liters per 100 kilometers in a mixed mode.

Also it is worth noting that these machines were the first models on which the active suspension was used.

C33

Under this name, the sixth generation became known. It was issued from 1988 to 1992. Cars of the sixth generation were offered exclusively in the body of a hardtop. And under their hoods installed quite powerful engines.

Take, for example, 205-strong 2-liter engine. "Nissan Laurel" with such a unit enjoyed great popularity and relevance. Not surprising, because he was the only one equipped with a turbo.

But there were also other options: for 180, 155, 125, 94 and 91 liters. from. The engines were already offered with a 4-speed "automatic" and 5-speed "mechanics". Although the most powerful engines were available and with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

"Nissan Laurel" has greatly changed in technical terms. So, for example, an independent amortization rack was set in front. And behind - a multilink suspension. This suspension was also independent.

Interestingly, some models were offered with the HICAS system. Thanks to it at the time of sharp turns or drifts, the rear wheels were activated. In general, in terms of manageability, the sixth generation Nissan has become much more perfect than its predecessors. On all wheels began to install disc ventilated brakes and even the ABS system.

C34

The seventh generation was also produced for four years. And he was given special attention. Not surprisingly, the C34 became the main competitor of the Toyota Mark 2. His design was radically reworked, but the emphasis was made on the organization of the internal space, which did not go unnoticed. All parts and spare parts of Nissan Laurel were perfectly aligned and adjusted. Ergonomics of the salon was at the highest level. As well as equipment. Airbags, ABS, "climate", air conditioning, light sensor, velor interior - the car was equipped with everything that was possible.

And, of course, the technical characteristics are also noticeably better. There was a powerful 2.5-liter 235-horsepower engine, and the weakest was the one that produced 100 "horses". Still available engines were 125, 150 and 190 liters. from.

Gasoline models were offered only with "automatic" (for 4 or 5 speeds), and for diesel versions, "mechanics" was also available.

Last years

From 1997 to 2002, the "Laurel" models of the eighth generation came out. The engines remained the same, but the motor for 280 and 200 "horses" was added. The popularity of the model began to fall, as many made the choice in favor of Toyota Mark, because the developers decided to focus on increasing the power of the units and technical characteristics in general. They began to offer even automatic transmission with the function of manual control. And the all-wheel drive version appeared.

Also expanded the list of equipment. There was a multimedia system (more precisely, a radio with video playback function), six powerful speakers, ABS, 3-contour seat belts, parking sensors, electric mirrors with adjustments, a light sensor.

The most rare equipment is the Club S Type X. Such a machine could boast a leather salon with suede inserts, sports gearbox, xenon optics, factory toning, electric seats and other additions.

The model was not supplied to Russia, but many people brought it on their own. Now it can be found in sales by ads. The normal price for the model of the late 1990s or early 2000s is about 200-300 thousand rubles.
