Mounting cartridge: application features

Mounting guns proved to be an excellent alternative to manual labor in difficult conditions, when you need to work with a solid foundation. This tool has several advantages. Clogging dowels-nails, using construction mounting cartridges, occurs without preliminary drilling of the base, and this not only makes work much easier, but also saves time for one operation. Such pistols operate without an electrical system, which allows them to be used in the field.

Varieties of pistols

Although there are several types of such tools (gas, pneumatic and powder), the mounting cartridge is used only in the latter. Structurally, it is close to firearms and works on a similar principle, therefore, basically, it is produced in weapons factories. Accordingly, the quality is confirmed by well-known world brands - TOZ, Walter, Spit, Remington, Hilti and others.

Also, the pistols are divided according to the type of cartridges delivered to: single-charge (manual feed), semi-automatic (cassette-disk) and automatic (cassette). The most productive are the latter, which can make about 700 connections per hour.

To perform specific tasks, for example, for roofing works on metal structures, mounting profiled or tunnel waterproofing, working with concrete, low-carbon steel, fixing metal grilles, special designs of pistols are produced.

The mounting cartridge used in such pistols is single. However, safety must always be observed when working with this tool. The apparatus itself is disassembled, inspected, cleaned and lubricated approximately every half a thousand shots.

Mounting cartridge: principle of operation

The principle of operation of all mounting guns is the same, only in the powder dowel is killed by a piston, which activates the force of the explosion of the cartridge. The force of action on the dowel is selected in accordance with the density of the substrate into which it is driven. It can be adjusted either by choosing the power of the cartridge, or by mechanical means, if this is provided by the design of the gun.

A bare (empty) mounting cartridge has the appearance of a sleeve, the open end of which is rolled and colored with a marking corresponding to the power. He is charged, as a rule, with smokeless powder. Ignition and explosion occur after striking the striker on the primer-igniter.

In some cases, there are also constructions of a mounting cartridge equipped with a Berdan and Boxer capsule (used in combat shells).

Gunpowder guns can not be used for installation work, in which materials such as glass, ceramics, cast iron, curbstone and granite are involved.

Caliber and capacity of cartridges

Different brands of gunpowder guns are charged with their types of construction and assembly cartridges, which differ in caliber and power.

The most suitable calibers for semi-automatic and automatic pistols are 6.8 x 11 and 6.8 x 18. And in single-shot pistols such as Hilti DX E72 or GFT307, a 56 x 16 mounting chuck is used. All of them are subdivided depending on the discharge power, Help special color markings (yellow, red, blue, gray, black or green). Color identification is repeated and on the package with cartridges.

Particularly important is the right choice of power, because this will depend on the reliability of the connection. For example, for clogging a dowel-nail into a brickwork or a plastered wall , a power of up to 500 J is suitable, but it is possible to cope with a steel or concrete base with an impact force of more than 500 J.
