The natural border of three states - Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan forms the Turkestan Range, which stretches for 340 km. The northern parts of the ridge represent a virgin, little explored area where climbers can find a huge field of activity, tired of crouching trails.

Ak-Su and Karavshin are an area where there is every opportunity for lovers of mountain sports. There are already established routes that have already been established, and there is also a field for pioneers. Rock rocks here are made up of granite, sandstone, limestone.

Fan Mountains

The mountains of Tajikistan can not be imagined without Kukhistan. So in ancient times the Fan Mountains were called. On the right this area is considered the pearl of the Pamirs. It is here that there is an edge of azure and emerald lakes with the purest water, which are more than thirty here. Clamped between tall ridges, they are surrounded by forests of coniferous trees.

If other mountain areas are of interest primarily for fans of extreme and mountaineering, then you can relax by lying on the green grass and bathing in the cool waters of numerous lakes. Many of them are of glacial origin.

Diamonds of the Pamirs

The largest of them is the Karakul. The history of his education is curious. 25 million years ago a huge meteorite struck a crater with a diameter of 45 km. Thus, a bowl was formed for a lake with a depth of 236 m. The bottom is covered with non-glacial glaciers. The lake does not have a drain and, therefore, its waters are saline.

The Sarez lake has a dramatic history . At the beginning of the last century, a grandiose collapse buried a whole village under itself and blocked the current of the Bartang River. As a result, behind this huge natural dam, a lake was formed, named after the settlement it had swallowed. This grandiose pond stretches for 60 km and reaches 500 m depth.

Those who admire such a natural object as Niagara Falls are simply obliged to visit Iskanderkul. This is a real pearl of the Fan Mountains, surrounded on all sides by impregnable ridges. The water in the lake is cold, but in summer it is quite possible to dip near the banks of the protruding coves. The lake gives rise to the Iskanderdarya River, which is overthrown by a magnificent waterfall 38 m high.

Khodja-Mumin is a grandiose pillar of salt

The mountains of Tajikistan are full of curious natural phenomena and mysteries. One of them is Khodja-Mumin. The mountain, completely composed of salt, is visible for tens of kilometers. The height of this pillar is almost a kilometer. At the top there is enough room to accommodate a small city.

An interesting fact is that salt reserves in this mountain will be enough for the whole of mankind for hundreds of years. A particularly beautiful sight is Khodja-Mumin in the sun, when the slopes, consisting of pink, green and gray salt, are poured in different colors.

For thousands of years, the wind brought a thin layer of soil to the top of the mountain and some of its slopes. In the spring, a beautiful carpet of mountain grasses and flowers blossom here. Nurtures this stream of freshwater streams that make their way from the bowels of the massif. Apparently, in the thickness of the mountain are hidden and other rocks in which fresh water is hidden.

The salt mountain in Tajikistan is an object of tourists' attention and local pride.
