"Missing Literacy": a short summary and analysis of the novel by N. Gogol

The first book by Nikolai Gogol is "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka". It was she who brought the author recognition and fame. The final story of the first part of this book is "The Lost Letter". The summary of this work is set forth in the article.

The narrative in this story is led by the eloquent deacon Foma Grigorievich. The story took place long before it was told. Her hero is a young Cossack, to whom the narrator is a native grandson. The "lost literacy", the brief content of which is presented below, is nothing but a mixture of Ukrainian folklore, a fantastic plot and a unique artistic style of the Russian writer.

Art style

The story of his Thomas begins with unchanging jests and suggestions. Before proceeding to the narrative, he warns that the audience will make a terrible impression on the listeners. He begins his story with a description of the nature of his grandfather.

In a bright colorful language, the character of the novel "The Lost Letter" narrates his story. The summary of its transfer can be only approximate. After all, Gogol's style is unique. However, the description of the Cossack, whose misadventures formed the basis of the plot, boils down to the following formulation: a man worthy of universal respect.

Hetman's task

Once the hero of the story was sent to Constantinople as a messenger. He had to convey some important message to the empress herself. This document is a missing document. The summary of her was unknown to the Cossack, not to mention his grandson. However, this is not so important. In the plot of the plot of history - the loss of this valuable document. And since the messenger was clearly aware of the importance of his mission, he hid the letter in the most secluded place, namely, sewn into a hat.

Fair

At that time a fair was near. The picture of this national event is always depicted in impressively rich colors by Gogol. The "missing certificate", the brief content of which is the subject of our article, is not without the image of this unique phenomenon. Somewhere there is a reveler with a red nose, a nearby secondhand dealer with flints, and in the distance the moskal spread his legs. In general, as well as it is necessary at the fair, it is full of any rabble.

Zaporozhets

Lyrical and philosophical digressions were often used in his work by Nikolai Gogol. "Missing letter", the brief content of which can be conveyed in several phrases, in its original form is a lengthy speech of the narrator. And in his narrative there are also deviations. One of them is a characteristic of the Zaporozhye population and its individual representatives. One of them met a Cossack. After a brief familiarity, the way to keep decided together.

On the way, they gave themselves up to cruel drinking, as it should be done to the Cossacks, and entertained each other with bikes. But suddenly the new friend of the Cossack somehow fell ill, became gloomy. It turned out that his soul was sold to the devil. In this, the Cossack confessed himself, but he did not cause surprise to his friend. What is the summary of the story "Lost Letter" and other stories from the famous book of Gogol? The lawlessness of the evil spirit and the irreconcilable struggle of the heroes with him are the main motifs of the narratives. And so, to acknowledge his new comrade, the Cossack replied: "Eka is unseen!" And he instantly promised not to sleep all night and protect a friend from attacks of evil spirits.

However, the messenger could not keep his promises. He fell asleep. And in the morning I discovered that not only was the Cossack missing. There were no horses. Deciding that they were taken by Satan, since he was not comfortable walking on foot, he calmed down for a while. However, the adventure was just beginning ...

The missing

The worst thing was that the Cossack did not find any caps. Accusing the line in theft, the hapless messenger used all kinds of curses. But the situation needed to be corrected in more effective ways. And so he went to find out in the district, did not anyone see the unclean with the letter. Nobody has seen. And the nearby Chumaks also noted that if the devil or the Muscovite took something, then remember how they knew. Only the shinkar gave valuable advice - it was necessary to go to the very depths of the forest, to a small river. There, according to this man, there was one who needs a Cossack, that is, a devil, a witch or someone else from an impure brotherhood.

Game with Witches

The Cossack, although it was not a small ten, still felt fear, crossing the path to the devil's place. But, having reached it, not so quickly was able to return the cap. The witches began to mock him. And the eldest of them offered to return the cap, but only if the Cossack beat her in a fool.

Playing with unclean force on cards was not an easy task. The witch continually cheated in her own way, devilishly. But the Cossack still won, having crossed an inconspicuous pack.

This is the end of the messenger's mess. He safely handed the letter to the queen. And the only thing that reminded him later of these events, this strange behavior of his wife, which every year, exactly on that day, suddenly decided to dance and have fun. This is the summary of the novel The Lost Letter, which, like all other works of Gogol, is better read completely.
