Carp - a fish belonging to the family of carp, a group of carp. Carp are subdivided into river and pond. The river is called the carp. They are stronger, smarter, grow faster. Pond - thicker, more prolific, more enduring.

Pond carp in turn are subdivided into mirror, frame Ukrainian and Central Russian (or Belorussian). Mirror carp is not completely covered with scales, in contrast to Central Russian, but still with scales, in contrast to the frame Ukrainian.

Carp are unpretentious, adapt easily to living conditions. They can grow up to 1 m in length, gaining weight up to 25 kg. Such dimensions they reach to 15-20 years of life. Mirror carp in the first year can gain weight up to 1 kg, and to two years - more than 2 kg.

This fish is thermophilic, it feels great at water temperatures of 22-27 ° С and water saturation with oxygen of 5-7 mg / l.

Hibernate carp at a depth, covering with a layer of mucus hardened (slack). During this period, they do not eat anything and lose much weight. From the "hibernation" they are taken out warmer water. Fishermen say that carp are badly caught before the lilacs blossom and after harvest. However, during the flowering period, cherry trees are excellent.

Mirror carp becomes sexually mature by 4-5 years, depending on the temperature of the reservoir. Spawning in this group fish, the group includes one female and several males, two to five. It is necessary at the end of spring-early summer. Spawning occurs in shallow water, which during this period literally bubbles. Such noisy spawning only in carp. The female can postpone up to 180,000 eggs, which in 5 days turn into fry. The fries first eat zooplankton, gradually turning to larger food.

Carp mirror - a fish that is grown for sale in small ponds. The pond is suitable for them shallow, well-warmed, weakly flowing, with aquatic vegetation. The fry is launched into the vigorous ponds in which they will stay until the fall, reaching a mass of 20-30 g. Having survived the winter, they are moved to the feeding reservoirs. There they grow and gain the necessary commercial weight, about 2 kg.

Mirror carp can be grown as a monoculture, and with other fish (carp, catfish, pike, pike perch, etc.). Three systems are distinguished by the feeding method for carp breeding : extensive (fed only by natural foods, such as zooplankton), semi-intensive (fed both by zooplankton and by feeding in the form of maize, barley, wheat, etc.) and intensive (using complex combined feeds with increased Protein content).

Mirror carp, as, indeed, all carp, the fish is popular. He is loved by both fishermen and eaters. Its meat is useful and has a delicate taste and, importantly, is affordable.
