What is the climate of Argentina?

A key role in shaping the weather conditions of any country is, of course, played by its location. More precisely, in what climatic zone are its territorial boundaries. Considering the climate of Argentina, we can identify several such contrasting areas, because this country is one of the largest states of the South American continent. It is second only to Brazil. The length from south to north is more than 3,700 kilometers.

Features of climatic conditions

What is the climate in Argentina? Here it varies from place to place, from the tropical in the northeast of Argentina to the snowy deserts on Tierra del Fuego. Since this territory is located in the southern hemisphere, the seasons here are a mirror image of the system familiar to Europeans. That is, when in the northern hemisphere summer is in Argentina winter, which is often forgotten by travelers and tourists.

Main tourist regions

The climate of Argentina is such that it is difficult to distinguish the most favorable time of the year for visiting this place for recreational or sightseeing purposes. But it is worth noting that in the period between December and March in the southern part the air temperature is quite high. Most often, the end point of any tour here is a visit to the famous Lake Lago Argentina on Tierra del Fuego or the Iguazu Falls. And also the cities of Salta, Buenos Aires, Maar del Plata, Bariloche and Puerto Madryn. Let's consider in more detail the peculiarities of the climate in different seasons, inherent in these tourist mecca.

Climate in different seasons

What can Argentina offer its guests? The climate for the months most favorable for visiting this country, with respect to its subjects, looks something like this:

1. Iguazu District. Located in the north-eastern part of this region. From November to March, the climate is hot and very humid. Rare, but very heavy, happen. It's sunny in the sky.

From March to September during the day there is a pleasant warm weather, which at night is replaced by an encouraging coolness. Precipitation also happens, but not often.
Months from January to May are considered the most favorable time of the year for traveling to this place. Usually in March the waterfall gets the highest possible water level.

2. Salta (north-west). From October to March, it is unbearably hot during the day, but it gets cold at night. This period is accompanied by a so-called rainy season, when showers may not end for several days.

From May to September there is almost no precipitation, but the weather is not sunny either. The sky is almost always clouded. It's cool at night.

3. Buenos Aires. The spring period from September to December is the most favorable for visiting this place. With the advent of summer it becomes hot and humid. Often there are thunderstorms.

Southern Territories

1. Maar del Plata (south of Buenos Aires). From June to August, the temperature is not so high, the humidity is low, which adds a sense of cold. Here, the south-east cold wind of Sudestad is already raging. It is he who plays a key role in the weather regime and forms the climate of Argentina in its southern regions.

2. Bariloche (southern Andes territory). From June to August, the atmosphere reigning here in many ways resembles the Alpine atmosphere. Popular in this period are the ski resorts of these places.

3 . Puerto Madryn (Patagonia). All year round you will not wait for rainfall. Rains are extremely rare. The climate of Argentina is very humid here. The days are sunny. The cold wind from Antarctica blows without stopping. Sometimes it feels like the temperature drops to zero. However, according to statistical data, it practically does not fall below +10.

Tierra del Fuego as a whole is the most severe territory in the climatic sense. In winter it is cold here, in summer it is a little warmer. The cold wind is also constantly blowing, especially it is unpleasant in the period from November to February.
