Metro "Udelnaya" - the most important transport hub of the city

Metro Udelnaya is actually one of the most important transport hubs in the northern capital. Why? In order to find the answer, it is worth diving into the study of the matter in more detail. It turns out that there are enough prerequisites for such an assertion, and among the reasons for its popularity can be identified as purely economic, so historical and cultural.

In this article I propose to talk in more detail about this most interesting object.

Section 1. Metro Udelnaya. general description

Many people know that the aforementioned metro station, which belongs, by the way, to the Moscow-Petersburg metro line of the city of St. Petersburg, is located between such subway stops as Pionerskaya and Ozerki. It is located in the Vyborgsky district of the Svetlanovsky district.

It should be noted that this metro stop was given such a name for historical reasons. The fact is that at the beginning of the XIX century the territory of Vyborgsky District, namely the large park and its surroundings, belonged to the so-called Department of the Units. It is for this reason that the Udelnaya metro station, built in 1982, received its name. Since the construction and until today the name of the transport hub has not changed.

Section 2. Metro "Specific". History of construction

On November 4, 1982 the station considered in this article was opened as part of the "Petrogradskaya" - "Udelnaya" line. The architectural design of the ground pavilion was made by the well-known architect VN Vydrin at that time.

To improve the traffic interchange, the upper part of the station was decided to be built near the railway station with the same name. Previously, in its place was located the old square. So after its destruction between the streets of Enotayevskaya and Eletskaya a new metro station appeared.

According to its building characteristics, the station is single-vaulted and has every reason to be considered a deep-lying facility. Its depth is about 64 meters. Underground part of "Specific" was developed according to the projects of several architects. The authors were VN Vydrin, VG Khilchenko and AS Getskin.

A little later, through a collective debate, it was decided that the station would consist of a single island platform, as well as four escalators of the underground slope.

Special lighting of the station was enclosed in arc-shaped lamps, which are located in the vaults of the structure. To date, all lighting devices are protected by gratings.

In 2000, sodium lamps were used instead of mercury lamps . This change has transformed the station, it has become much lighter and still differs from the others precisely with its beautiful lighting.

Section 3. Metro "Specific". Characteristics

The object described has an interesting artistic design, executed in a unified style. The bas-relief of VI Lenin decorates the end wall of the underground part of the station. Under it there is still an inscription reminding of past events. The lines tell that in August 1917, Lenin, while avoiding the persecution of the Provisional Government, illegally left the railway station "Udelnaya" to Finland. The locomotive number was 293. It is also written that in October 1917 Lenin returned to Petrograd in order to lead the preparation of an armed uprising.

From the station you can get to Enotayevskaya and Yelets streets. Those interested can visit the Udelny prospect. Udelnaya metro station (St. Petersburg) is popular with visitors of the city, as well as those who work in the suburbs. Not far from the entrance is a hotel that provides all comers with a relatively inexpensive accommodation. Within walking distance is also the local market.

On the runway between Ozerki and Udelnoy there was built a technical service point, which is the only one for this line.

The traffic junction on the surface is actually very fortunate. From the station, passengers can continue their route on numerous buses, both municipal and private, or use the tram.
