Meet our English friend: Worchester sauce

Among the whole variety of dishes sauces stand apart. These are the very notes that make you start playing food with new shades and tastes, make it special and unique. It's not a secret for anyone that different dishwashers get the same dish in different ways. And it's not about the main ingredients and the way of cooking (after all, even cold snacks will differ), namely in sauce.

We are already accustomed to the variety and splendor of the flavors of these condiments that have occupied the shelves of our supermarkets. But there are still not fully mastered representatives of cooking. One of these is the Worchester sauce. The English call it Worcester, but we will stop at the usual transcription for us.

So, the Worchester sauce. What is it and what does it eat?

The history of the appearance of this seasoning on our tables is noteworthy. Here is the case about which they say: "There would be no happiness, but misfortune helped." One English lord from his wanderings through the Indian expanses brought a sauce recipe that he could not conquer his stomach. The container with the prepared product was placed in the basement and forgotten about it. But one day, looking at the rubble, they accidentally stumbled upon it. The barrel was pulled out, printed, and its contents turned out to be unusually tasty. With this and began its triumphal procession, the Worcester sauce. At first he became a welcome guest in the kitchens of English mansions, but gradually conquered more and more new countries.

He also reached Russia. However, former Soviet citizens, not spoiled by the store variety of culinary delights, were puzzled: "What should be used for this spicy and rather concentrated seasoning?" The answer was found quite soon. The Worchester sauce is an indispensable ingredient in Caesar salad. It is impossible to imagine preparing the famous cocktail "Bloody Mary" without this chic gift of the British. But this is not the limit of the capabilities of our British friend. It is added to a variety of vegetable soups, hot snacks, sandwiches and sandwiches. Especially good it is combined with meat in Tatar, marinated fish. Those who prefer to drink tomato sauce with spices, will be delighted by the addition of this product. Many do not like the taste of "Tabasco", but the Worchester sauce is combined with this drink very well.

The only thing to remember about when preparing the dishes, this seasoning is very concentrated, so use 2-3 drops. A maximum of 5-7 if the portion is large.

Many housewives choose the Worchester sauce, the price for which, by the way, is not much higher than for mayonnaise, mustard and other condiments. The original product is from Lea & Perrins. However, it can only be found in shops specializing in delicacies. But in any supermarket you can easily find Worchester's sauce from Heinz. It has slight differences in taste, but it also costs less.
