Medlar at home. Growth conditions

Many growers are engaged in the cultivation of rare and exotic plants, but not everyone knows that in an apartment you can grow such a beautiful tree as a loquat. At home, fruits can be obtained not only with lemon, kiwi or pomegranate, but also this small shrub from the subfamily apple. Its fruits are valued for a high content of vitamin C, besides, they are very tasty. The Mexican loquat is widely spread on the territory of Western Europe, Algeria and many other states. Judging by the name, we can assume that the plant comes from Japan, but it is not. The tree has only been spread there, but its real home is China.

Medlar at home is grown very simply. To do this, you need to buy fruit in the supermarket, pull out the seeds and immediately plant them until they have lost their germination. You can pre-soak them in a solution of potassium permanganate, but this is not necessary. In a pot, it is best to plant one seed, as two plants will appear at once. The soil can be prepared from leaf and turf earth, sand and peat.

The medlar grows very quickly at home, and after a month, two or three pairs of real leaves appear on the sprout. It is during this period that it is necessary to determine the future form of the plant. If you prefer the shape of the bush, you should pinch the medlar, and if you want to get a tree, then the first prishvipku should be done in six months. On growth and fertility this does not affect, only the form will change.

The loquat in the home multiplies not only by seeds, but also by cuttings. To do this, the cut branches should be planted in a moist soil, and covered with a jar from above. In four weeks you can contemplate a young bush. Since the medlar is an exotic plant that is not adapted to our climatic conditions, it must be provided with all conditions close to the natural habitat.

The tree will develop normally, bloom and bear fruit only with sufficient moisture. The soil should never dry up, water the plant with standing water or melt water at room temperature. The loquat at home should receive a sufficient amount of moisture from the air. To do this in a day it needs to be sprayed, and twice a month to hold a warm shower. In winter it is often not necessary to water the plant, but to prevent moisture from evaporating, it is necessary to cover the soil with moss.

Light rooms - this is what a loquat like. The photo of this tree amazes many gardeners: it is so beautiful and tidy the plant. Its maximum height is 2 m, and it can give a lot of fruits. If there is enough light, buds in the medlar will be large, flowering usually occurs in April or early May, and in June you can already eat fruits. If they seem too tart, you need to put them in the freezer, then the medlar becomes soft and sweet. In spring, the light day is not so long, so additional illumination may be needed for normal flowering. The medlar has a decorative appeal, besides it gives useful and tasty fruits. For this, it is worth taking care of the plant.
