Meat in a pumpkin in the oven is a very satisfying and tasty dish. In order to make such an original autumn dinner for your close people, it takes a lot of effort. But at the same time for the presented dish there is no need to purchase expensive and outlandish ingredients.

Pumpkin stuffed with meat in the oven: recipe

Components for lunch:

  • Sunflower oil - at the discretion (for roasting meat);
  • Salt iodized, ground pepper fragrant, spices any - add to taste;
  • Pumpkin whole small size - 1 piece;
  • Veal (pulp with fat) - 550 g;
  • Large onion - 3 pcs.

Preparation of the main vegetable for baking

Before you cook meat in a pumpkin in the oven, you should treat the vegetable component well. For this, it is required to take a fresh pumpkin of small dimensions, and then gently cut off the "hat" from it and remove all internal fibers with bones. Next, the vegetable should be rubbed from inside with sweet pepper and iodized salt, and then put in the oven (on the grate), together with the cut off lid and bake for 46 minutes.

Preparation of stuffing for filling

Meat in a pumpkin in the oven is obtained delicious from pork, lamb, beef or poultry. But we decided to make such a dinner, using only veal with a little fat. It must be washed, cut off all unnecessary elements, and then chopped in a meat grinder along with the heads of white onions.

Filling processing

Meat in a pumpkin in the oven requires a phased preparation of this hearty dish. After the minced meat is made from the fat pulp of veal, it should be put in a sauté pan, pour a little water and sunflower oil to it. Next, the meat must be flavored with iodized salt, aromatic spices, ground sweet pepper, close the lid and stew for a quarter of an hour.

Forming and baking dishes

After the pumpkin becomes a little softer, it should be taken out of the oven, and then take a spoon and remove the flesh so that the vegetables have walls up to two centimeters thick. The same thing needs to be done with the "hat". Next, the gruel from the main ingredient is required to add to the meat mince, carefully mix everything and stew for another 10 minutes. After that, the prepared stuffing should be placed in a hollow pumpkin, close it with a natural lid, put it on a greased form and send it to the oven for another 40 minutes. During this time, the vegetable will completely soften, soak up the aromas of minced meat, become especially tasty and juicy.

After the specified time, the pumpkin must be carefully removed from the oven and placed on a large and flat plate, without removing the lid.

How to properly serve the original dish to the table

Baked pumpkin, stuffed with meat, served for dinner in a hot state. Before you put the stuffing out of the vegetable, it should be opened by removing the "cap", mix the contents well, and then distribute them along the plates. Served such a dish with wheat bread and raw vegetables in the form of salad.
