Liquid car soundproofing: reviews

Almost every car owner, especially a domestic manufacturer, is familiar with the problem of noise penetrating into the cabin through the bottom or arches. Some drivers do not try to somehow fight it, others, on the contrary, tend to make their car as comfortable as possible.

Until recently, the only solution was the use of noise and vibration isolation, which is a special bituminous mats. Glue on the bottom of them you need from the cabin, looking at it completely, on the arches - only from the inside, which, you see, is not very convenient and fast. In addition, the laying of such material requires its heating.

However, about five years ago in the markets there was an excellent alternative to them - liquid car noise insulation. Reviews of car owners show that it is not only more convenient to apply to body parts, but also much more efficient than usual "noise". What it is, what kinds of it are on sale and how to use it, we'll talk in this article.

What is the essence of liquid noise insulation

Liquid noise insulation is a special tool made on different bases (bitumen, rubber), designed to reduce noise and vibration in the cabin of the car. In addition, this product has excellent protective properties that prevent corrosion of body elements. It can be applied to both internal and external surfaces of the bottom and arches, as well as used in combination with conventional bitumen sound insulation. In this case, the effect of sound and vibration absorption will be the highest.

Liquid car soundproofing: reviews and benefits

Those owners of cars that have experienced the effect of liquid "noise" on their cars, unanimously declare its high efficiency. Economical drivers here see a certain advantage, consisting in the absence of the need to spend separately on anti-corrosion treatment, and separately - on soundproofing.

In addition, any liquid car noise insulation has a number of advantages over conventional. Here are just a few of them:

  • High sound absorption capabilities;
  • Long service life;
  • Easily applied to any surface;
  • Weight of the car no more than 15 kg, while bitumen increases the weight of the car by 50-60 kg;
  • Being applied from the outside, additionally protects the car body from the harmful effects of gravel, water and road reagents;
  • Resistant to temperature changes and mechanical stress;
  • Can be painted under the color of the machine ;
  • The composition of the product is completely safe for the health of the driver and passengers.

Varieties of liquid soundproof materials

At us on sale liquid sound insulation is presented by following products:

  • Various rubber-bituminous mastics;
  • NoiseLIQUIDator;
  • Nuxodol 3100;
  • "Dinitrol 479";
  • Prime Prime Antichum.

Let us consider in more detail what this product is.

Rubber bituminous mastics

Rubber bitumen mastic is a product consisting of a solution of bitumen and rubber (rubber) with the addition of alkyd resins and plasticizers. The assortment of these products is quite wide, but none of them falls short of the ideal due to the final state of the dried solution. Unfortunately, such a fluid soundproofing of the car does not harden completely, which makes it more similar to an anti-corrosion coating. The most common rubber bituminous mastics in our markets are "Cord", "Cordon", "BPM-1", "BPM-97".

NoiseLIQUIDator

NoiseLIQUIDator - a good vibro-absorbing mastic of Russian production, used mostly for arches, although it is also suitable for bottoms. Consists of two synthetic components: base and hardener, mixed in certain proportions immediately before the start of work. Can be used for dehumidifying ribbed metal surfaces: bottoms, ararok, rapids, etc. It is not recommended for application to plastic.

Apply by hand with a spatula. The time of hardening of one layer is a day.

Nuxodol 3100

Nuxodol 3100 - pasty liquid sound insulation of Swedish production. It has excellent soundproofing, vibration damping, anti-abrasive and water repellent characteristics. Can be applied to metal and plastic surfaces with a brush, roller or with a spray gun. Pre-drying - 10-12 hours, full - 1-2 weeks. After drying it takes the form of a solid polymer film. Excellent painted car enamel.

"Dinitrole 479"

"Dinitrol 479" - the most popular and common in our liquid noise insulation. Comments on its application are extremely positive. It is also produced in Sweden. "Dinitrol 479" combines three functions at once: protection from gravel, prevention of corrosion and noise insulation. Sometimes it is also called "liquid fenders", as it is often used to handle arches. Can be applied with a spatula, brush, roller. Total drying time is 12 hours.

"Prime Anti-noise"

Liquid sound insulation "Prime Anti-noise" is a universal tool that simultaneously protects the body from corrosion and reduces the level of noise coming from under the car.

It includes white spirit, modified bitumen, perlite, synthetic resin, rubber chips, aluminum and zinc powders, and corrosion inhibitors. The product is absolutely odorless and completely safe for health. It has high soundproof, anti-gravel and anti-corrosion properties. Sold in the form of an aerosol in cylinders. "Anti-noise" can be used to "blow out" hard-to-reach places (hidden cavities of doors, thresholds, spars).

Sound insulation: price

If you decide to go to a specialized center in order to make your car more resistant to traffic noise, be prepared for the fact that you will be offered to choose the materials yourself. Just worth mentioning: do not give preference to cheap products, as it will require more, and it will not last long, and the effect will not be the same. It is better to choose a product of some famous brand.

As for the price for soundproofing the bottom and arches, then on average it is from 4 to 10 thousand rubles. Only arch processing will cost from 1000 to 2000 rubles, depending on the material and the number of layers applied.

How to make a sound insulation by yourself

And now let's talk about how to apply such a tool as liquid noise insulation, with your own hands. This is not such a troublesome occupation. First, you need to determine where it will be applied: on the inside or on the outside surfaces. Further, proceeding from this, choose the appropriate tool and make a calculation of its quantity. Better, of course, first to process the car from the outside, because inside you can make additional noise insulation at least bituminous mats, although the means described above.

Before starting work, surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water, then rust off and degrease. Only after this, you can begin to apply noise insulation with a spatula, brush or spray. Excellent if it is enough for several layers. In this case, apply a second layer only after the first coat has dried completely.

Before operating the vehicle, allow the product to dry completely. It can take 1-2 weeks, but it's worth it.

Helpful Tips

Preparing for the self-treatment of the car with liquid noise insulation, use these tips:

  1. Do not buy cheap materials at obscure retail outlets. Instead, visit a specialized store where you will also be consulted on the proper use of the product you purchased.
  2. Pay maximum attention to cleaning and cleaning the surfaces to be treated - only in this case your work will give a good result.
  3. Before processing, remove the wheels of the car and insulate the hubs with the pads with polyethylene to avoid getting mastic on them.
  4. Do not work at temperatures below 10 ° C - the mastic will freeze much longer.
  5. Do not mix different means at all.
  6. Do not apply the product in a thick layer. It is better to make several layers, waiting for the complete drying of each of them.
  7. If the process seems unworkable, contact a specialized service center.
