Gas-generating car: its pros and cons

During the Second World War, there was a marked lack of fuel in the countries of Europe. For this reason, most cars have been equipped with special gas-generating systems. Thanks to them, the machine could move on the energy of burned wood. Over the years, the production of petroleum products began to recover, and such transport has lost its relevance. However, in our time, when fuel prices are rising every day, some motorists make gas-powered cars on their own. But how much is this useful and effective?

If you look at it from an ecological point of view, the unambiguous use of such structures does not pollute the environment in the same way as conventional DVS running on gasoline. However, our motorists are not very worried about the current environmental situation in Russia. To a greater extent, the economy of money is considered here. Let's note at once that the gas-generating car will consume at least 50 percent more fuel than usual. But the cost of such a "biofuel" is much smaller, so the difference in this is not felt. It is noteworthy that much less time is spent to produce the fuel needed than for gasoline. Firewood can be used without any pre-treatment. The only thing that is required of you is the presence of chopped timber in the luggage compartment.

However, despite the advantages, there are also drawbacks of such a system. The main factor, because of which many motorists still use gasoline instead of firewood, is the size and weight of the structure.

Judge for yourself: the presence of a gas generator system does not have the best effect on the design of the car. In addition, you have to sacrifice a place in the trunk and pull around the perimeter of the machine huge pipes. As you can see, gas-generator car is not always good in operation. If you live in urban areas, where the gas station is larger than firewood, it is simply not advisable to operate such a car. But in deep Siberia, where fueling is a very rare phenomenon, a gas-generator car is a real salvation for the inhabitants. Therefore, it is possible to apply such a construction only when the terrain and territory contribute to this.
