Kuchinsky jubilee chickens. Chicken meat breeds. Eggs of chickens

Poultry farming has been extremely popular with our peasants since ancient times. Chickens and ducks required little care, in summer they found food independently, and the eggs and meat they received from them were a valuable source of protein, which was so necessary for a difficult rural way of life.

Unlike other branches of the national economy, poultry farming is a universal solution. Most breeds of the same chickens with equal success can provide you with meat and eggs. In many respects it is connected with centuries-old selection, since most people at all times required exactly the universality.

Which chickens to choose?

Unfortunately, in our time it is difficult to find such a breed of chickens, which would fully meet this simple requirement. Despite the fact that in Soviet times zootechnics in all other branches of livestock breeding were aimed at breeding breeds with universal characteristics, in poultry farming preference was given exclusively to hens-laying hens. Remember the "blue chicken" on the shelves of stores? Their extremely low taste qualities were largely associated with the "non-core" direction of the bird.

Fortunately, there are wonderful Kuchin jubilee chickens whose pedigree characteristics are extremely high. Their characteristic red eggs immediately strike the eye already in the incubator, and later the Kuchin chickens show themselves only from the best side.

A little about the percentage of hatchability

Almost all the breeders claim that it is not worth believing in the books on "75% of chickens' output". Typically, in the incubator and under the chicken, this indicator rarely exceeds 50%. However, this feature is perfectly compensated by the peculiarities of the youngest: the chickens are large, mobile and strong.

Unlike other chickens, hatching chicks begin not with the dull end of the egg, but with the sharp one. And then in general - from the middle. Important! Practically at each conclusion there are such chickens, in which the yolk cord is wrapped around the foot. If the Kuchin jubilee chickens are hatched under the laying hen, then there is no problem: the hen will itself eliminate the problem. In the case when the incubator plays the part of the hen, you will have to closely monitor the hatched chickens in order to prevent the case from happening in the first hours.

Other features

Do not be scared by looking in the incubator! Before you, it seems as if a beige sea appears in which it is virtually impossible to find two identical chickens. A variety of beige-brown shades just can not be described! Distributed "chipmunks", which on the back have three parallel black strips. In general, only one "rule" is strictly observed: there are no monotonous chicks in this breed at all.

Why did it happen so?

The thing is that the Kuchin jubilee chickens are a kind of "alloy" of several breeds of meat and egg birds, so that in infancy all the abundance of genes that the chicks got from their ancestors manifests itself. Yes, and adults can be quite different in color: their plumage may be yellow or almost red. For this reason, the Kuchin jubilee breed of chickens is often accepted even by experienced poultry farmers for other birds.

Only by the age of one month the chicks begin to sort out somehow, since systemic differences are manifested. So, chickens will always be smaller, and on their back will appear feathers, edged with a black border. In the males, the back is red, with a slight reddish tinge.

Cultivation of young animals

Do not think that such a heterogeneous "public" requires a thrilling attitude. Kuchinsky jubilee chickens are incredibly good even if they are very simple and pleasant to look after for their young. Again, differing from other "stupid chickens", these kids are extremely clever.

On the third day the chicks perfectly associate your hand not with the terrible beast that invaded their nest, but with the source of food. Thus, all your offerings will be immediately tested for edibility. In general, the problem of transferring to "adult" food is not complete.

Other nice features

In addition, there are also no stresses related to adaptation when transferring to another premises. So, if chickens of other breeds get used to a new house for a long time, sometimes panic fearing to depart from it in a week, the Kuchi jubilee breed of chickens is extremely daring: young birds get used to the room in a few hours, calmly begin to go out for a walk and look for food.

The main difference from common breeds is the fact that this bird almost never presents unpleasant surprises to its owner. So, layers lay eggs only in a strictly defined place, and do not spread them around the henhouse; They always sleep on the perches, without deforming the keeled bones overnight on the floor. Of course, you will need to provide them with these very perches.

By the way, what will happen if the chicken of the same Russian white breed decides to take the egg to the same nest as its car? There will be a serious brawl, during which birds can quite break both eggs. And the Kuchin jubilee breed of chickens is so peaceful that two layers can sit in one nest without making any attempts to peck each other.

When to plant?

About three months of all extra males are strongly advised to plant. The fact is that they simply prevent the chickens from eating. If you pour more food, the birds will overeat, and this will have an extremely negative effect on the ability to lay eggs. In the end, you will get overfed chickens that can not be carried, and as many "lush" cocks that will not be suitable as "landscapers".

If you grow them separately, then at seven months old roosters can be hammered: the meat is soft and tender, and the skeleton is compact and thin enough. Healthy chicken can begin to be carried already with half a year.

A little bit about oviposition

The eggs of these chickens (as we have already said) are large, rusty in color, with a very strong and dense shell. In the literature, there are references to the fact that over a year, one hen can produce up to 180 eggs. In practice, more often there is an indicator of 220-240 pieces. Important: in the first two molts Kuchin jubilee chickens (photo of which is in the article) continue to be carried perfectly. Only at the age of two or three years at this time oviposition stops.

Even if the hens were "hatched" by the incubator, the maternal instinct is strong in them: more than half of the birds remain hatching eggs. They are exceptionally responsible, so periodically chase them from the eggs, so that the chicken does not forget to eat. Even in the cold spring, one chicken is able to raise up to three dozen chicks without problems, and in summer this figure can grow even more.

It is very important not to overfeed the birds, especially closer to three years. Individuals extremely quickly become fat, start to run badly from the hands. In addition, the case may begin due to illnesses. So these chickens need to be fed, not getting carried away by the size of portions.

Meat breeds of chickens

However, do not underestimate the meat breeds of chickens. With the photos that are in our article, you will be able to compose a general idea about them. What are the main differences between these birds? First, they grow rapidly, and almost all the consumed food is spent on building muscle mass. Of course, some layers of hens of meat breeds can lay off a relatively decent number of eggs per year, but still their volume is insignificant.

In appearance, they are also quite easy to recognize. Chicken meat breeds have a powerful chest, short legs and overall roughness of the exterior. Very good chickens are Cochin. Their appearance is very remarkable: short and powerful legs, feathering, more like a black coat. However, often there are also redheads. Chickens and males grow very fast, gaining a large amount of meat mass. They weigh 5-6 kg, they are great for growing broilers.

Brama

This breed is an excellent example of how you can make decorative toys from beautiful and productive birds. Once the males of the bruma only reached the mass of 7 kilos in half a year! Unfortunately, the main selection (contrary to common sense) was only on the line of breeding beautiful birds. As a result, the brahma continues to be considered meat chicken, but their mass rarely exceeds 3-4 kilograms.

However, there is one positive feature: unlike other meat breeds, the chicken of this breed pawns up to 120 eggs a year. They are large, they have excellent taste qualities. In addition to these two breeds, in our country, there are practically no chickens of meat orientation. However, with egg breeds the situation is much better.

Egg chicken

Russian white. One of the oldest selective lines, the deduction of which actually began as early as the end of the XVIII century, but officially the breed was approved only in 1953. Chickens and roosters of pure white color, with bright red scallops. The constitution of birds is rather dry, legs are long. Beginning to begin at the age of 160 days, a year lay about 200 eggs.

Leggorn

Almost all the egg breeds of chickens in our country were formed under the influence of these birds. Formation of the Leghorns themselves took place several centuries in a row, in Italy. From there they eventually moved to the United States, where further formation of the breed took place. In 1925 the birds were brought to our country.

The breed is good because in the year of the laying hen, 300 eggs are laid. Birds weigh about 2 kg, they start to rush at the age of only 140 days.

Loman Brown

Of course, the breed of chickens Brown is not too common in our country, but every year these birds are becoming more popular. In fact, it's not even a breed in the classical sense of the word, but a cross. That is, they are obtained by crossing other varieties. At home, it is impossible to bring out chickens with the specified characteristics in an incubator, and therefore one has to buy new individuals every time.

Characteristics of Browns are unique: their eggs are large, cream colored, with a dense shell. During the productive period, the laying hen lays more than 330 eggs a year! The launch starts at about 140 days.

We hope that the description of the breeds of chickens given in this article will help you make the right choice.
