Knauf company products: floor elements for dry ties

The method of dry screed began to be used for a long time. It became very popular among professionals and amateur builders, when there were special integrated materials systems for different types of work.

The company "Knauf" gained wide popularity among builders. The floor elements of this manufacturer are part of the complex for flooring. Their use makes the process of leveling and preparation of the surface under the coating very technological.

Gypsum fiber board

Material GVL (gipsovoloknistye sheets), from which the floor element (Knauf) consists, is well distributed in the construction market. Cellulose fibers from waste wood or waste paper are specially floured and mixed with gypsum binders. The resulting mass is wetted and pressed into sheets. After drying, grinding and cutting, plates of 10-12 mm thickness are obtained. To gipsovolokno not spoiled hands and clothes, it is impregnated with the composition against chalking. The main advantages of GVL - ecological compatibility, fire resistance, ability to absorb excessive moisture, heat capacity and sound insulation. If you use hydrophobic additives, GVL acquires moisture resistance.

The main disadvantage of GVL is its severity, fragility during transportation and processing. Therefore it is more convenient to use small-format GVL. "Knauf" floor elements are made from these sheets.

Description of floor elements

The panel for the prefabricated base - the floor element Knauf "Superpol" - consists of two sheets of GVL 10 mm thick, measuring 1200x600. In the factory, they are glued together with a 50 mm offset in two directions. As a result of the displacement, a fold is formed to assemble the panels into a single flooring. Through this fold the elements are glued together and screwed with screws.

The longitudinal edge of the sheets can be straight and inclined - rebated, the end - straight.

Dry Screed Technology

The overlap on which the prefabricated base is mounted can be concrete (monolithic or prefabricated of slabs) or wooden (with board or sheet flooring). In any case, you should arrange a hydro- and vapor barrier, laying a PVC film or any roll material of the desired properties. The strips are laid with an overlap of 200-250 mm and an overlap on the wall. This layer will prevent both the consequences of leaks from above, and the penetration of moisture from the floor.

Enclosing structures - external and internal walls - are separated from the future "pie" by sound-absorbing gasket: along the perimeter the edge band of foamed polymeric material is laid.

A layer of backfill is applied to the film, the minimum thickness is 20 mm. This layer forms a flat surface for the installation of panels and performs the functions of heat and sound insulation. For backfilling any material consisting of granules of approximately the same size, a fraction of 3-5 mm, without inclusions of dust and dirt is used. Claydite sand has the best qualities . Based on it, specially prepared backfill for dry screeds is prepared: "Compavit", "Keraflur", etc.

Leveling of the backfill is done by marking the level of the floor, determined by the laser or hydraulic level. For this purpose it is convenient to use a special tool from Knauf: a set of temporary guide beacons and a rule. More often as beacons use a profile for mounting GVL.

Advice of professionals

Experts advise using beacons only to equalize the backfill and not lay on them floor elements GVL (KNAUF). A layer of loose material will eventually settle and compact, the panels will rest on metal, which will lead to noise and reduced thermal insulation of the construction of the prefabricated floor. Therefore beacons must be removed.

Failure of the construction of the floor without the usual lag seems. Carefully leveled backfill and properly laid out Knauf floor elements have a very high load-bearing capacity.

They are laid on a leveled surface with interruption between rows of at least 250 mm. To assemble the flooring, apply special glue to the panel rebars according to the instructions. Then each floor element "Knauf" is connected by self-cutters of length 19 mm, which are screwed strictly vertically, making the heads of self-tapping screws.

The last stage of the base device will be puttying recessed screws and seams between panels GVL and primer surface hardening composition. After that, the floor base is ready for facing with any finish coating - both roll and piece.

Right choice

This method of preparing the floor has many advantages. This speed, convenience, independence from temperature conditions, increased sound and heat insulation. Dry screed is a very technological and intuitive construction process. It is not for nothing that it is considered that such floors can be made even by a person who does not have experience.

For the assembly of prefabricated floors, other board materials are also used: gypsum plaster sheets, particle board, ordinary and moisture resistant plywood. But only the elements of sex produced by Knauf company fully correspond to this technology, greatly enhancing its positive qualities.
