Julia Latynina: "Akhtarsk Metallurgical Plant" and other books

Detective is one of the five most popular and sold genres in the world. Still would. Who will not be seized by the process of investigation and disclosure of the crime? Especially when the author realistically opens the veil of modern reality and skillfully interweaves in the thread of the plot elements of a thriller, fantasy and adventure.

short biography

Julia Latynina was born in Moscow on June 16, 1966. The writer's parents are well-known in literary circles: Leonid Alexandrovich's father is a prose writer, Alla Nikolaevna's mother is a critic. Julia graduated from the Literary Institute named after Gorky with a red diploma, trained in Belgium - in the University of Louvain.

In 1988 she entered the graduate school of the Literary University, where Latynina Yulia Leonidovna began to take an interest in the history of economics and culture. This was reflected in the publications of that time and her thesis. The internship is held at King's College in London, is engaged in the European economy of the Middle Ages.

The first works

Julia worked as a correspondent, the author of various programs and leading on TV. The main field of activity Latynina - the economy. In journalism she came, being already the author of several novels. Some sources claim that Latynina moved on to prose from journalism. But in the transfer of "Echo of Moscow" these assumptions were refuted by Julia Latynina herself. Books written between 1990 and 1995:

  • "Irov day" - the story later entered the cycle "Weiss story".
  • "One Hundred Fields" - one of the first novels by Latynina, is included in the cycle "The Weiss story".
  • "Clearchus and Heraclea" - a story in a fantastic genre.
  • "Sorcerers and ministers" - the novel is included in the "Weiss story".

Latynina writes both in the detective genre and in the fantasy, where the adventure style fits brilliantly. Some of the novels are literary cycles - in particular, "The Weiyskaya Empire", "Akhtarsk Metallurgical Combine", "The Caucasian Cycle". In the work of Latynina, the knowledge of the economic background, a good literary language, the subtlest humor and sharpened sarcasm, accuracy of formulations, often beating directly at the target, are noticeable.

"Weiss Empire"

The fantastic cycle "The Wei's Empire" is often called the best of works by Latynina. A series of books tells about the state in an immense future. The founder of the Weiysk Empire defeated the enemies and created an empire that could exist with its rules and laws for more than 2 thousand years. It grows stronger and develops until the aliens from Earth appear in it.

The inhabitants of the empire tried to resist any changes and interventions. But the country could no longer remain the same. The cycle resembles the same scheme, which is played out in the cycle "Akhtarsk Metallurgical Combine". Only on an interplanetary scale. Step by step the consequences of this visit reach the palace of the emperor, where "fateful decrees" are published.

The empire began troubled times - intrigues of officials, theft, bribes. And the elite of the empire practicing socialist feudalism for nearly 2 millennia, learns the basics of exchange operations and traces Earthlings around their fingers. A kind of economic "Wei" miracle is coming. In the political and economic game of this cycle, there was a place for intricate detective stories, philosophical reflections, and miracles.

"Akhtarsk Metallurgical Combine"

This cycle, perhaps, is the pinnacle of authorial realism. How does the action in the first book, the "Steel King", unfold? The general director of the metallurgical combine is cruel, cynical, but talented. He literally "throws out" his predecessor from the director's chair. Becomes the owner of the cellular company so that no one will listen to it. Bribes the city elite - the mayor, the police, the governor. The strike of the miners threatens him with a catastrophe and a famine for the workers. Will the steel king stop?

Latynina masterfully demonstrated the life of modern Russia, where criminal, banking and security structures crossed the battle for the largest metallurgical combine, the world's fifth largest company. The stunning authenticity of the trilogy opens up the wrong side of financial combinations, the business and political life of the country to the reader. The second part of the trilogy - "Hunting for wapiti" - also reveals fascinatingly the filling of Russian "business" - crazy money, gangster outrage, lack of moral principles.

"Industrial zone" is the final book of the trilogy, in the center of which is the same Akhtarsk Metallurgical Combine. The novel unfolds a war between two powerful industrial groups. There are no laws, no business, no state. Only personal relationships and war, profit and loss. For the sake of themselves ecological catastrophes are made, and court decisions are simply bought. This is an industrial zone.

The "Caucasian cycle"

This series begins with the book "Jahannam, or See you in Hell." Like the previous cycle, it talks about a society where there are no rules. Where everything is bought - positions, conscience. Honor and decency are not the place. The oligarch removes the rival with the help of the Chechens, and those, in turn, are liquidated by the FSB forces. Another terrorist attack that can be prevented, on the contrary, provokes for the sake of stars on shoulder straps. It would seem that it can be scarier?

The author of the cycle answers this question. Many episodes, which are often present in real life, are revealed in the novel as vital and believable as Yulia Latynina can do. The books "Niyazbek" and "Land of War" are full of details that were covered earlier in the press. The details and the author's magnificent style reveal the real problems of Russian reality. In the plot there is drama and eternal truths - faith and love, freedom and betrayal.

The book "Not the time for glory" closes the "Caucasian cycle". One of the heroes of the second book becomes a manager in a Western company. By the will of fate, he returns to his friend to sign a contract for billions of dollars. The president of this small country rules here with an iron hand. But the Kremlin officials are beginning to press with their irrepressible appetite and are ready to declare him a terrorist and a rebel. Captures the realism of the plot, as however, much that creates Julia Latynina.
