Mikhail Sholokhov "Don Stories": a short summary of the story "Rodinka"

In the spring of 1905, the future great writer Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov was born. "Don Stories," a brief summary of which will be presented below, are an unrivaled masterpiece left to us by the author.

Plot

The plot of the story "Rodinka" is as follows: Nikolka Koshevoi, an eighteen-year-old boy, is a regiment commander and is fighting no worse than any experienced warrior. He is a real Cossack and the son of a Cossack. The author brings the boy's memories of his childhood when his father planted him at the age of five on his horse. Nikolka was left an early orphan. His mother died, his father disappeared during the German war. Remained completely alone at age 15, Nikolka left for the "reds."

Strong and courageous young man early in the morning receives a deliberate order to go to capture the gang in a neighboring state farm. Orders are not discussed, so Nikolka is going on the road.

For the third day the gang has left the chase of Koshevoi's detachment. There is a gang of drunken experienced soldiers. Ataman had not been to their native land for seven years. And he survived the captivity, and the "turetchin", the wicked, the stale. Only the pain of the soul tried to pour moonshine.

Nikolka Koshevoi, having learned from the miller, where the gang settled, immediately goes there. But the ataman from afar saw the young commander and took aim. I shot once, and the horse fell under Nikolka. The fleeing commander fired, and the ataman, grinning, waited until he spent the entire clip. And then the ataman attacked the commander and killed him with his sword. After that the murderer took off the corpse of binoculars and boots. But when I was shooting, I stole socks. Then the heart of the ataman froze. He saw on his leg Nikolka's birthmark with a pigeon egg, the very birthmark that his son had. Ataman killed himself with a shot in his mouth. And there was a vulture-vulture sitting on his head.

A special approach

In this is a brief summary. "Don's stories" Sholokhov wrote not so much to show the horrors of the civil war, but to show people a way out of it. In general, Mikhail Sholokhov of all writers who revealed in their work the themes of collectivization, civil war, dekulakization, differed in its special approach to assessing the events and actions of people. Do not make the heroes only positive or negative Sholokhov ("Don Stories"). The summary of some of the works confirms this. Everyone with his own truth, with his life view. First of all, the writer was interested in the inner world of the hero, and not by the fact that he gravitates towards the White or Red movement. It is for this reason that we will not see any excuse for the author himself of the "red" or "white" ideas, cruelty and inhumanity. In this whole Sholokhov ("Don stories"). The summary, of course, does not allow you to see the whole depth of the book. It only reveals the plot.

Idea

The 1920s were a terrible time in the life of the people, because there was a struggle not against the foreign invader, but there was a war between the brother and his brother, his father and his son. What could be more terrible? In the book we see terrible pictures filled with blood and hatred. But even through them something good is shining, faith in a better future for the country. The writer unobtrusively explains to the reader that one can not justify inhuman torture and executions of thousands of people.

On the example of specific heroes we see the tragedies of a whole people according to the book "Don Stories". Sholokhov (Rodinka - the work we are considering) is very penetrating, so that the heart contracts, tells the story of the ataman who killed his own son and did not survive this tragedy. The scene of understanding the ataman of what he accomplished is terrible. He groans like a wounded beast, he bothers the dead, calling him a kindred son.

Relationship between people

Pictures of the Don landscape, witnessing bloody murders, begins each of the six parts of Sholokhov's story. "Don's stories," a brief summary of which has already been cited, go even deeper. Why was it so shocking that the ataman was killed? Had not he done this before? Did it! But to kill a son is another thing. Hence Sholokhov comes to the conclusion: that there should be no war, so that people again live in peace and harmony, they should treat each other in a fatherly way, to love as sons, as brothers.
