Than to process seams after operation? Tips for every day

The patient, normally undergoing surgery, as a rule, is the most terrible thing left behind. And to fully restore strength and efficiency, the patient now needs to follow the recommendations of doctors and monitor the condition of his wound and sutures.

How we care for the sutures after the operation (when we return home), we'll talk in today's article.

What you need to ensure that the seam is well healed

It all depends on the place where the seam is located. The larger the area it occupies, the more serious the operation, the correspondingly, more time will be spent on healing.

Before processing the stitches after the operation, get the necessary tools:

  • Hydrogen peroxide ;
  • Green (iodine dries up the wound);
  • Gauze wipes, cotton wool or sticks;
  • Sterile bandages (if the bandage is removed from the seam in the hospital, then this point is not needed for you).

How and what to process the seams after the operation

The treatment of the seam should be practiced several times a day, it is especially important to perform this procedure after a shower. You can wash yourself after a week (of course, it needs to be clarified by the doctor), sometimes you can take a shower just the day after the operation. The main thing - do not touch the seam with a washcloth, so as not to damage the slightly healed scar.

And now let's look at the process itself: you need to get wet with a hem moistened with hydrogen peroxide in a gauze and wait until the skin dries. Then the stitch is applied with a cotton swab of greenery.

If this is necessary, then at the end of the procedure a sterile bandage is applied. It is needed to prevent the infection from entering the wound, however, while the healing time is somewhat delayed, as the seam can become wet under the bandage.

In difficult cases, and also, if the wound begins to ooze, the patient is obliged to go to the polyclinic or hospital daily. Under such conditions, the risk of infection or injury to the wound is minimized.

What to do if the stitch is inflamed

When the inflamed areas are found, they should be gently wiped with medical alcohol diluted to 40 degrees. Completely seam is not lubricated (to protect against drying). If the inflammation appears again, you should urgently consult a doctor who will tell you what to process the seams.

After the operation, crusts form on the rumen. They need to be removed, as this can lead to a thickening of the seam line, which will make it even more noticeable.

After the threads are removed, the seam needs to be treated for a few more days (the doctor will specify the time), until everything is completely healed.

What does the suture look like after the operation?

The scar remaining after surgery seems different. Everything depends on how and how it was sewn, as well as on the individual biological characteristics of the patient's body.

Its final form of seam becomes, as a rule, in a year, and even after two. Terms vary and depending on the part of the body on which the operation was performed. The scar tissue is most active in the first weeks after the operation: at this time, it is usually red and hard. Then there is a gradual softening, and the seam turns pale. Some traces (we are talking about plastic surgery) after three months are almost invisible.

Knowing how and what to process the seams after the operation, you can minimize all the external manifestations of surgical intervention. Be healthy!
