Worm's glicks: symptoms, signs and characteristics of treatment

From helminthosis, not only mammals, but also birds can suffer. The chicken is an unpleasant disease, for example, it is quite often. Damage to poultry farms helminthiasis can cause a truly colossal. That is why it is so important to prevent such diseases and their timely treatment.

What worms in chickens are found most often

There are a lot of species of helminths in nature. A poultry can catch both round worms-parasites, and ribbon or flukes. Live worms in chicken can be in different organs. But most often this poultry is still infected by nematodes and ascarids. The latter settle in the intestines of the laying hen or broiler.

Too serious complications, unlike mammals, worms in chickens usually do not cause. But they can still cause significant damage to health. More often, worms become infected with helminths. At first, the signs of helminthiasis are manifested rather distinctly. But if the owners of the poultry house do not take appropriate measures, in the future the disease can go into an almost asymptomatic form. And, consequently, it will be difficult to determine the reasons for the decline in the productivity of the poultry.

Danger of disease

Settled in the body of chicken worms begin to absorb large quantities of nutrients, taking them away from the bird itself. It is as a result of this that the broiler or the laying hen begins to lose weight and significantly reduces the productivity indicators.

Another danger of helminthiasis in chickens is intoxication of the body. In the process of vital activity, worms give off just a huge amount of all kinds of harmful substances. The latter are quickly and almost completely absorbed into the blood of the bird. And this, in turn, leads to a deterioration in health, weakness and reduced immunity. As a result, a chicken can catch any more serious infection than helminthiosis.

Live worms in a chicken in the body, as already mentioned, most often in the intestine. But sometimes the larvae of parasites penetrate into other organs, and even into eggs. Therefore, the helminthosis of chickens is fraught with danger, including for the owners. Nematodes can live in the intestines of not only animals and birds, but, of course, humans.

The most unpleasant consequence of helminthiasis in chickens is an intestinal rupture. This happens with intensive reproduction of worms. The larvae in this case fill the intestine so tightly that its walls simply can not stand it. In this case, the sick chicken dies.

Ways of distribution

The disease of helminthiosis is actually very contagious. If at least one hen gets infected in the herd, after a while, all the bird living on the farmstead will have to be treated. Worm eggs are transmitted both through the feed and through the water. More often, sources of infection of chickens are unfavorable in terms of helminthiasis farming. Therefore, when buying young animals or producers the owner of a poultry farm should be the most attentive.

The same goes for feeds. Buy grain, bran and root vegetables for chickens is only for proven suppliers with a good reputation.

Symptoms of infection

Determine if the chickens have worms, it's easy. Immediately after infection, the bird loses its appetite and begins to lose weight quickly. Also the symptoms of helminthiosis can be:

  • Decreased productivity;
  • The appearance of eggs with a soft shell;
  • Diarrhea (feces of yellow color);
  • Pale color of the ridge;
  • Presence of larvae in feces;
  • enteritis.

Chickens have worms of different types. But sometimes it happens that the symptoms of this disease are not too pronounced. In this case, the owners should contact, including, and for help to veterinarians. Equipment designed to diagnose this disease is available in every such clinic. In order to accurately determine the presence of worms in the body of a bird, the veterinarian needs only to bring the samples of the litter. In this case, it will be possible not only to accurately diagnose helminthiasis, but also to find out which type of parasite caused the infection, and, consequently, to assign the most effective treatment.

What preventive measures should be taken

Worms in chickens can cause very unpleasant symptoms. The disease is in fact usually causing considerable damage to the farm. Of course, any infection is easiest to prevent, than to treat later. It concerns, of course, and helminthiasis. Preventive measures aimed at preventing this disease in farms should be taken necessarily.

As already mentioned, the infection in the poultry house is most often entered from disadvantaged farms. Therefore, purchased additional youngsters or producers should be kept in quarantine for at least two weeks. If during this time the bird does not show any signs of helminthiosis or any other diseases, it can be translated into a common house. Young people before this for prevention necessarily fed anthelminthic drug.

Glistas in laying hens and broilers are often planted because of the banal non-compliance with sanitary standards in the poultry house. That barn, in which this poultry lives, should be scrubbed as carefully as possible. It is worthwhile from time to time to clean and in a walk-in cage. As many experienced farmers note, helminths are more often infected with chickens kept on free-range.

In order to prevent the infection of birds with worms, antihelminthic drugs should also be used. Give them to the bird for prevention about once every six months.

Treatment with drugs

The chickens at the chicken are, of course, a very unpleasant and rather dangerous disease. However, it is actually relatively easy to treat. You can get the preparations necessary for getting rid of birds from helminths either in a regular pharmacy or in a veterinary or even a pet store.

It is best to purchase a medicine designed to treat immediately from all types of bird worms. There are many such drugs on the market today. Most of them act effectively from worms. However, when buying such a drug should be as attentive as possible. On the market there are often fakes that do not benefit the bird. Also, sometimes these drugs can harm and even make eggs or poultry toxic.

Specific dosages for different types of poultry are indicated by the manufacturer of "Pirantel" on the package. Treatment with this drug is carried out three times with an interval of 6 days.

Many owners of household plots are interested, if worms are found in chickens, is it possible to eat chicken? Of course, from the consumption of meat of infected poultry is worth abandoning. First, chickens should be treated properly. After applying anthelmintic means, poultry is not recommended for about two months.

Worm's glistens: treatment with folk methods

All sorts of drugs help with helminthiosis very well. However, the means are still chemical and capable of exerting on the body birds including negative impact. Therefore, many owners of suburban areas prefer to treat their hens, infected with worms, folk methods. In this case, medicinal herbs are most often used. Very good from helminths in chicken helps, for example, chopped green onions. It should be added to the poultry in each feeding in large quantities.

Also, it is possible to get rid of worms from chickens by offering them a decoction of needles of pine or spruce instead of water. Often, poultry seeds, berries of cranberries and wild garlic are used from helminthosis of poultry.
