Ikarus 256: specifications, fuel consumption and photo

The Ikarus 256 bus was produced serially from 1977 to 2002 by the Hungarian automaker. The model was similar to the 250th. The difference was only its length, which was one meter less. Compared with the previous modification, the 256th had more functional innovations, was more comfortable and met all the requirements of the tourist bus. It was mainly used as a means of transport between cities and as a bus for tourist routes. For the entire period of production, Ikarus 256 was modified several times and supplemented with new equipment. So, on the basis of the model the following modifications were issued: 256.21Н, 256.50, 256.51, 256.54, 256.74, 256.75.

Undoubtedly, at the moment the cars of the above modifications are inferior in terms of comfort to newer tourist buses, especially overseas production such as "Neoplan", "Scania", etc. But at that time it was the most popular means of transport for passengers on intercity and just as a tourist and sightseeing bus. The use of the 256th model has become less relevant. But still it can often be seen on public roads.

Ikarus 256: specifications

The length of the bus is eleven meters, the height is three meters ten centimeters, width - two and a half meters. The wheelbase is 5330 mm, the ground clearance is 350 mm. The front and rear overhangs are equal to 2460 and 3180 mm respectively.

Bearing the body of the bus has a wagon-type layout and is made in a square form. The sides of the 256th are made by welding metal sheets, which affects their strength. They are also easily repaired when deformed.
Transport was equipped with stamped wheels, which were used on most domestic heavy vehicles, so they were interchangeable. On the bus "Ikarus 256" set the wheels of the 280th radius, and tires - 20 inches.

The power unit was installed in the stern part of the body and was more powerful than similar modifications. In the process of modernization, the volume of the luggage compartment was increased, in which it is possible to place rather large items.

Exterior

Normally, the bus was painted red with a white stripe along the sides. Almost all modifications are very similar and equipped with identical parts of the body kit. These are volumetric metal bumpers with built-in fog lamps, a narrow radiator grille with four round headlights. Icarus 256 has an overview windshield with a central dividing wall. The bus has two doors, located in the front and rear parts of the body. The rear opens manually, and the front is equipped with a pneumatic drive.

Interior

Compared with other models of buses, Ikarus 256 is distinguished for its comfort and practicality. Ten rows of passenger seats and a five-seater rear seat are installed on the so-called catwalk, which provides excellent visibility and additional convenience. Armchairs are soft type, with folding backs and armrests, with high back. As a rule, the upholstery of seats is made of strong types of fabrics and leatherette, and for practicality, you can put on covers on the chairs. Overcoming long distances, the passenger does not tire, and also has the opportunity to change the position of his body. It is also possible to move the chair on a special sled, thus changing the distance between the passengers. The issue of increasing the usable space and increasing the convenience was solved by reducing the number of seats to forty-three. The feet of passengers were also paid attention - under the seats are mounted foot stands with adjustment function.

As in other versions of the bus, in 256 above the seats is a compartment for small hand luggage, which allows to release the comfort zone from various things needed for long trips.

The windows of the bus have curtains made of high-quality material, which allows them to protect themselves from direct sunlight, as previously the windows in this type of transport did not have a tint.

The interior ventilation can be carried out both through hatches in the ceiling and forcibly. Over each pair of seats are elements of individual ventilation and additional illumination of the passenger area.

The maximum speed that a bus with a given unit can develop is equal to one hundred and twenty kilometers. And with a filling maximum of 300 liters of diesel, the machine can cover a distance of up to one thousand kilometers. At the same time, the fuel consumption of Ikarus 256 in the conditions of the route is 33 liters per 100 kilometers in the suburban mode.

Transmission and chassis

Coupled with a two-horsepower motor, the ZF-S6-90U six-speed manual box provides good dynamic performance. Suspension of the rear axle - dependent type, installed on four pneumatic cushions with two longitudinal thrust rods and two A-shaped rods. Four shock absorbers are installed. Suspension of the front axle - dependent type, installed on two pneumatic cushions with two longitudinal thrust rods and two shock absorbers.

Such a running system is equipped with all the modifications of the Ikarus 256 buses. The suspension scheme of this type ensures smooth and soft running of the bus, stably keeps it from strong roll and swinging of the body when overcoming sharp turns and sections of the hillside. The number of seats is 43 plus an additional chair for the driver's partner. The useful volume of the luggage compartment is 3.8 cubic meters.

Electrical equipment of the bus "Ikarus 256"

The technical characteristics of electrical equipment and equipment are as follows. The operating voltage of the on-board network is twenty-four volts.
