Hypoxia of the brain: what is the danger?

Hypoxia of the brain is a very complex and dangerous condition that occurs as a result of the lack of oxygen that enters the neurons of the brain, or a violation of the assimilation of this gas.

Hypoxia of the brain: causes. In fact, there are many factors that lead to a similar state. First, it is quite natural that the hypoxia of the brain develops as a result of too low oxygen content in the atmosphere. But this option is observed quite rarely. In most cases, the cause is the violation of the functions of the human body itself.

Oxygen enters the tissues of the entire body, including the brain, along with blood. That's why often enough brain hypoxia develops due to problems with the work of the cardiovascular system - acute vascular insufficiency, cardiac blockade, circulatory disorders in the brain tissues. In addition, the same disease occurs with asphyxiation of diverse origins.

Quite often, hypoxia begins during a severe operation or in the period of postoperative rehabilitation. In some cases, oxygen deficiency occurs as a result of severe poisoning, including ethyl alcohol or carbon monoxide.

Hypoxia of the brain: symptoms. Symptoms of this condition are quite typical. First comes the stage of increased excitability. During this period the patient becomes too energetic, falls into a state of euphoria. His movements become somewhat uncontrollable, and his gait is shaky. It is worth paying attention to the skin of a person - he either blushes too much, or they acquire uncharacteristic pallor and even cyanosis. At this stage, cold sweat may appear .

Then the second stage begins, which is accompanied by inhibition of the activity of the nervous system. At this stage, a person complains of attacks of dizziness and nausea, which often result in severe vomiting. Violation of the clearness of vision, darkens in the eyes. In the future, a person can lose consciousness.

In more severe cases, cerebral hypoxia may be accompanied by cerebral edema. In this state in the human body, severe disorders begin in the brain, as the body begins to gradually lose first conditional, and then unconditioned reflexes. With further deficiency of oxygen, the skin loses sensitivity, and all other organs lose the ability to function normally.

In some cases, hypoxia of the brain ends in a deep lumpy state.

Hypoxia of the brain: treatment. Only an experienced practitioner can diagnose this condition. In this process, attention is paid to the results of the examination, as well as complaints of the patient. It is worth paying attention to the reason for the development of such a state, since it is from this that the methods of treatment depend. That is why it is so important to indicate the factor that led to such a result, whether it is alcohol abuse or prolonged stay in a room with poor ventilation.

Treatment can take place both in a hospital setting and at home - it all depends on the severity of the condition. The patient is prescribed a number of drugs that are aimed at normalizing the work of the whole organism. In addition, it is necessary and the intake of vitamins, which restore brain tissue.

If the hypoxia of the brain was of an easy form, and the treatment was started on time, then the prognosis for such a patient is very favorable. But it should be noted that with prolonged deficiency of oxygen in the brain tissues, irreversible disorders start that are no longer amenable to treatment.
