Hunting carbine "Bear": description and reviews

In the Soviet period the carbines "Bear" were a rarity, therefore it was considered a great success to become the owner of this model. The weapon was intended for shooting large animals - it is thanks to the effectiveness of hiking in the bear, it is especially appreciated by fans of hunting. Today, representatives of this series are quite common in Russia and, as a rule, there are no problems with the purchase.

Technical specifications

In many respects due to performance characteristics, the developers of IzhMash achieved the optimal performance indicators, which the self-loading carbine Bear has in almost all versions. The main technical data are as follows:

  • The barrel with four cuts has a length of 55 cm;
  • Length of the carbine - 111 cm;
  • The minimum weight without an optical sight and bracket is 3.3 kg;
  • Store capacity of three cartridges (chess or row arrangement), has an integral design;
  • The sight is fourfold optical or open - the installation is done using a special bracket.

Depending on the version, this data may vary, but in the standard "Medved" carbine has exactly such characteristics. Now you can look more closely at weapon modifications.

Modification of SOC 9

The version has a 9-millimeter caliber and is intended for hunting- type cartridges with parameters of 9x53 mm - a soft-bullet bullet weighing 15 g is used. The IzhMash plant launched the production of this version in 1965.

The length of the barrel corresponds to the standard of the model - 55 cm. Most elements have anticorrosion treatment, and the shutter, chamber, barrel bore, piston with frame and gas tube are provided with chrome plated coating.

Auto-reloading is the key feature that distinguishes the hunting carbine "Bear" from a common series of models of this type. It is produced due to the powder gases, which are diverted from the barrel into a special chamber. During the expansion of the gas, a pressure is formed, which has an effect on the piston. The latter, in turn, discards the frame, resulting in a spring compression. Thus, the frame with the bolt returns with the new cartridge in the front position.

The trigger system includes a special spring (combat version) and a rotating carabiner trigger. At the moment of action on the trigger device, the trigger hits the striker, which leads to activation of the igniter. The process of spring injection is carried out when the bolt is returned to the main position.

The version of "Bear 2"

This modification as a whole repeats the characteristics of the first versions - a carbine for hunting for a bear with a 9 mm caliber for a cartridge with the same parameters 9x53 mm and a 15-gram bullet. Moreover, its release was established approximately in the same years. From the predecessor system "Bear 2" differs detachable magazine for 3 cartridges. In the development of this carbine was for the first time in the series used the system of arrangement of cartridges in a row order. This is one of the significant parameters that distinguish the first generations of weapons from more modern ones. The package includes three stores, as well as an optical sight. By the way, the set is not limited to fourfold optics - six-fold versions are also offered.

Modification "Bear 3"

This specification has a caliber with a size of 7.62 mm and provides for the use of cartridges 7,62x51 (suitable mainly for domestic copies) with a bullet of 9.7 grams. The small-circulation production of this version began in 1976. Since the modification was launched, there were serious discrepancies with the standard version, as the 9-mm Bear rifle provided for the use of other cartridges in size.

The model added a little in mass (3.4 kg) and got a detachable magazine for 4 cartridges (in-line arrangement). Developers also offer the introduction of a flame arrester on a special order - it acts as a replacement for the muzzle brake. With respect to other parameters, the carbine system remained the same, retaining the latest developments - for example, the possibility of using a six-shot sight.

The version of "Bear 4"

The last modification of the family, to which almost all innovations for the carbine "Bear 3" were transferred. Nevertheless, a number of parameters have been adjusted. The four-cartridge shop, in which chess layout is provided, is perhaps the main difference between the "Bear 4" model. Carbine in this form was certified in 2001 and at the moment is a very common tool in the hands of hunters.

Features of "Bears"

Carabiner has a lot of design features that should be considered and as advantages. In particular, a simple device ensures the safety and reliability of weapons, and a small mass makes it more comfortable to use. Also in the eyes of hunters, the accuracy of the hunting carbine "Bear" is appreciated, and the appearance. Has a model and a number of other advantages, including:

  • Decrease the recoil effect. For this, the developers of IzhMash supplied the butt with a butt plate made of a softening rubber base.
  • Minimizing the risk of an unintentional shot - the action of the fuse, which is equipped with the carbine "Bear", is calculated directly on the sear.
  • To facilitate the cleaning process, the trigger system is separated into a special box.
  • There are several divisions for aimed fire with a maximum distance of 300 m.
  • The hunter has the opportunity to use an open sight, even if the optics have not been removed - this allows a special bracket.
  • The lining for the trunk and the butt are represented by high-strength wood species.

Nuances of compatibility with cartridges

The latest versions of the rifle do not use rifle cartridges 7.62 mm, hunting specimens 7.62x53, imported models 7.62x51, as well as products of the foreign line of Winchester 308. Their parameters do not coincide with the data of the caliber.

The foreign Win series, which extends to the size 7.62x51, also does not meet the requirements. The pressure of the gases of gunpowder in the barrel calculated for such cartridges assumes about 3,700 kgf / cm 2 , while the Russian "Medved" carbine is combined with cartridges of the same size, providing an average pressure of up to 3,300 kgf / cm 2 .

In addition, there are obstacles in compatibility with heavy bullets of foreign production. To such it is possible to carry production FrankoniaJagd. Since the cartridges of the Winchester 308 type are designed for use in combination and shop weapons, their use in the "Bear" carbine can lead to a delay in the operation of the automation. It is important to remember here that the domestic model is self-loading, which causes limitations.

Disassembly process

All carbines of the family have the same disassembly procedure. Begin with the separation of the store, after which you need to install the bolt in the rear position. Further, the barrel box is removed, and the return device is removed immediately with the liner. In the box the frame is removed, from which, in turn, the bolt is withdrawn.

Lastly, the shock-trigger system is removed. 4. The carbine should be inspected periodically to ensure that all elements are in good order. In this connection, the gas removal device is also disassembled.

To remove the ramrod it is necessary to move its head downwards - this can be done by turning the locking flag in the opposite direction. On the gas tube there is a special latch - on it it is necessary to press and take out the element completely. The ring of forearm moves forward, after which the carbine "Bear" will disconnect the lining for the trunk. Having pushed the pusher to the maximum stop, it is necessary to remove its end from the piston niche. Then it is extracted with a spring. A piston is removed from the gas pipe. After pressing the corresponding latch, the tube itself is turned away. By means of simple manipulations with a screwdriver, the butt can be easily separated.

Reviews

The opinions of direct users about the carbine, despite the individual nature of the application in each case, converge on common points. Positive assessments mention the reliability and stability that the Bear Bear has. Reviews mark and lethal power, which, incidentally, affects the quality of meat. Nevertheless, even at long distances and with an average flatness, the model gets and effectively "hits" the beast.

Almost all claims relate to the convenience of using a carbine, but also, only in some aspects. For example, there is a weak fuse and a permanent store design. On the other hand, many highly appreciated the "Bear" for the minimum return, quality of materials and thoughtful trigger mechanism, which contributes to comfort in the process of hunting.
