How to treat myoma of the uterus

Gynecological problems persecute a woman in one way or another practically throughout her life. Everything depends on the characteristics of the female body and the functions assigned to it. It was revealed that the second most frequent disease of this sphere is the uterine myoma. Not so long ago, this problem was solved radically - the removal of this body. To date, there are ways to treat myoma, saving not only the uterus itself, but also the genital function.

This is a benign tumor, which rarely turns into a malignant tumor. It follows that you should not consider such a diagnosis as a sentence. It is only necessary to consult a specialist and choose the right treatment, depending on the degree of affection, tumor growth rate and other factors.

Most often, this disease is found in women older than 30 years. The reasons can be varied. Gynecologists at the same time identify several factors that are related to the risk group. The main one is frequent surgical interventions (abortions). In addition, women who are nulliparous or give birth once, also have a better chance of developing a tumor. It is easier to treat myoma of the uterus if the problem is detected early. In such cases, only hormonal therapy may be needed. About a complete cure without surgery, you can speak only when the tumor is small in size.

If the ultrasound "accidentally" found small myomatic nodes, then it is necessary to take measures, not hoping that they will not grow or pass independently.

When a hysteromyoma is found , it should be treated immediately. It should be said that if there is no indication for surgery (the tumor does not grow or grow slowly, the young age of the patient, the small size of the changes), conservative methods of therapy are used. This includes hormonal and non-hormonal drugs. The latter include the intake of vitamins in the autumn-winter and spring periods, the treatment of anemia, the normalization of sexual activity and a healthy lifestyle. Also here is treated with medicinal herbs.

To treat myoma with hormonal preparations, most often, is prescribed in preparation for the operation. The drugs used (among them "Zoladex", "Buserelin", "Diferelin") contribute to the reduction of the tumor by 30-50%. Thanks to this, it will be possible to perform an operation with preservation of the organ (removal of only the nodes) or to remove the uterus using the laporoscopic method. If, after hormonal therapy, the operation is not performed within a month and a half, there is a big risk that the tumor growth will resume. In addition, long-term use of these drugs is not recommended because of the possibility of side effects.

It is necessary to mention myomectomy, an operation that allows treating a myoma surgically, while retaining the uterus. It is conducted by women who are going to give birth later. In this case, patients are immediately warned that in the future, the appearance of new myomatic nodes. Myomectomy is done using various surgical approaches, laparoscopically, vaginally, hysteroscopically. In each case, the method is selected individually.

Not so long ago, embolization of uterine arteries is practiced , a modern and reliable way of how to treat myoma. It represents an operation performed by endovascular surgeons. Its essence lies in the selective "blockage" of small vessels that feed the tumor nodes. Left without food, the myoma begins to gradually "dry out," and the nodules are separated from the healthy tissue. As a result of this procedure, after a few months, the tumor decreases almost in half. However, it is worthwhile to know that this is a rather painful intervention, and, probably, after it you will have to spend a little time in the hospital.
