How to prepare Italian ice

In cooking, there are many dishes with bizarre or not quite ordinary names. Take, for example, the Italian ice. Not everyone will immediately guess what it is. Nevertheless, the product is very popular in all countries of the world.

Any Italian meal must necessarily end with an original dessert. He is its worthy logical conclusion. Without a good dessert, it's impossible to imagine a feast in the true national style. For residents of the Apennine peninsula, this can be a fragrant Italian ice. The dish itself is extremely simple, but very tasty. It is a fragrant frozen mixture of fruit puree with syrup.

The peculiarity of this dessert is the choice of its main components. The main role here is played by syrup. And for cooking it is taken strictly of a certain type. Italian ice is prepared as usual ice cream. All products used for its preparation must pass through 3 basic stages:

  1. Mixing.
  2. Whipping.
  3. Freezing.

The result is a dish that has unique cooling properties. There is also Italian gourmet ice. Its difference from ordinary dessert is that several kinds of fruits are used for cooking. Typically, this is blueberry, cherry or lemon. But here everything depends on personal taste preferences. Therefore, as a fruit component can also be any citrus or berries.

Technology of cooking

For example, you can consider the simplest version of how to prepare Italian ice. The recipe provides for the following components:

For 450 grams of water a glass of corn (light) syrup, 200 grams of sugar and two-thirds of a glass of lemon or any other fruit juice.

Preparation of dessert takes place in several basic stages:

  1. To begin with, the water should be poured into a saucepan and brought to a boil on the stove.
  2. Add sugar and wait until it completely dissolves.
  3. A special metal container for cooling to put in the freezer.
  4. Remove the dishes from the fire.
  5. Add syrup, freshly squeezed juice and mix well. The mixture should cool to ambient temperature.
  6. Pour the contents of the pan into a cooled container and send it back to the freezer.
  7. After 1-1.5 hours, the mass can be slightly beaten with a fork.

Ready-made dessert can only be put into a serving bowl and decorated to your liking.

It is very popular especially in the summer time using sorbetto. It is very similar to Italian ice. This is a frozen fruit sauce with sugar syrup. As an aromatic component, sometimes even popular melons (melon or watermelon) are used.

To prepare this dish you need the following products:

For 200 milliliters of water, 750 grams of watermelon, 1 lemon and 150 grams of sugar.

Preparation of dessert is performed step by step:

  1. First, watermelon pulp should be crushed with a blender in a puree.
  2. Add the lemon juice to the mass.
  3. From sugar and water, prepare the syrup.
  4. Combine the resulting semi-finished products and mix them well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a clean container and put it in the freezer.

After a couple of hours, the aromatic sorbetto will be ready. Before you put it in the cups, the mixture can be mixed with a fork.
