Therefore, remember the following: the height of the loaded trailer should not be more than 3.8 meters, the width - 2.2 meters, and the length of the device together with the tractor (in this case it is a car or an off-road vehicle) - no more than 20 meters. Of course, you ask: "How can you not keep up with this size?" But if your boat is really big (and this is not uncommon today), even if it is a low-load trailer, the overall dimensions will be 4 meters or even more. Therefore, carefully calculate the dimensions of your boat and combine them with the length of the future trailer.

Chassis

Making boat trailers with their own hands, special attention should also be given to axles and suspension parts. Here it is necessary to decompose the load onto the supporting structure in such a way that the distribution of the catered mass of the boat is about 70 percent on the front (ie, where the towbar is) and 30 percent behind. This is done in order to make the movement of the hitch along the road with maximum safety and maneuverability. Judge for yourself: what will happen to the car if the rear of the trailer will account for up to 3 tons of cargo? Then a 500 kg "tail" of your car will simply rise with the towing device, and you can hardly make a move on such a car.
