How to make a chopper branches yourself. Homemade branch grinder

In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in prices for agricultural and horticultural equipment. It is this factor that forces many gardeners to take radical measures and create homemade lawn mowers, motor blocks and other devices. In today's article, we'll talk about one of the varieties of these devices and learn how to make a chopper branches themselves.

Advantages of homemade equipment

Despite the fact that the design of such units lags far behind the appearance of factory analogs, in terms of functionality, this technique is not inferior to that made on the conveyor. The whole "trick" is that when creating a self-made shredder, a person selects for her exactly those characteristics that are needed to process a specific volume of material. And if in the case of factory units it is not always possible to guess with power and other parameters, then you yourself can choose how productive your equipment will be. If you prepare the drawing in advance and carefully think it through, you will end up with a machine that is ideally suited to your garden plot. Knowing the volume of recycled waste, its size and hardness, you will make the most practical and functional shredder branches yourself. And the productivity of the device will depend on the engine power, the type of knives and the size of the grinding drum.

Preparation for work

Without which element can not make a chopper branches themselves? The drawing is certainly the main detail, without which it is impossible to create the correct design of the apparatus and the placement of all the units in it. Therefore, the first thing to do is take a sheet of paper, a pencil and at least sketch out a future model of your technique. At the same time, parameters such as length, width and height of parts are mandatory for the design of such devices. In addition, in a separate notebook, calculate the number and list of all necessary metal products and parts, as well as the total number of steel, which will serve as the basis for construction on the chopper.

What else should I pay attention to? When making the shredder circuit, also mark the location of the holes for the fixing bolts, consider the placement of the engine and drum. In addition, indicate where the support racks, wheels and belt tensioners will be fastened.

Particular emphasis is placed on the support platform of the unit. It is from its area and dimensions that the stability of all machinery will depend.

We select the engine for the grinder of grass and branches

After drawing up the drawing, you must purchase all the parts required for the work. It is best to start with the "heart" of the unit, that is, the engine. On what type of motor you choose, depends the productivity of the shredder and the cost of its operation in general. In total, there are two options for choosing an engine: the purchase of a gasoline or electric unit. Each of them has its pros and cons. For example, a gasoline engine can be operated at long distances, regardless of where the socket is located (in contrast to the electric one). However, the electric version has its pluses - it is more environmentally friendly (there are no exhausts of gases, which does not harm the health of a person), is less noisy. The gasoline engine will make noise to the whole street, and all its neighbors will know about its work.

Frame

Having decided on the type of engine, it is possible to start creating the basis of a chopper - the frame. It will be attached to all other important components and units, such as the engine, a hopper for loading recyclable waste and a grinding drum.

The frame itself is made of a metal pipe with a square section measuring 50 x 50 millimeters. This profile is cut into 6 parts, 4 of which should be 40 centimeters long, and 2 others - 80 cm. After that you will need a welding machine and a bundle of electrodes. With this device, short lengths of pipe are welded to the ends of long blanks perpendicularly. Do the construction of the frame in such a way that, in the end, you get a rectangular frame from the channels. The other two profiles are fixed within this frame. The distance from the end cross bars for these two pipes must correspond to the installation dimensions of the internal combustion engine and the grinding drum. After that, a metal sheet 5 mm thick (to one of the ends of the frame) is welded to a self-made grinder. In it, elongated holes are made. Again, their dimensions correspond to the mounting dimensions of the motor and drum.

Next, 4 legs with a height of 500 millimeters each are welded to the chipper. To achieve the strength of the structure, metal profiles 20 x 20 mm in size are attached to them.

Engine and tensioner mounting

The engine is attached to the elongated mounting holes of the plate with bolts and nuts. Along with it, a tension mechanism is established. It consists of a corner and 2 bolts. At both ends of the corners, holes are drilled into which bolts are inserted. They are attached to the inner screws of the ICE. Due to this, the tension mechanism firmly "sits" on the frame.

About the grinding drum

At the last stage, the homemade branch grinder is equipped with a device for processing the material. This unit is called a grinding drum. This part is mounted on the opposite end of the frame with respect to the engine placement. It is made of a piece of pipe 400 x 300 centimeters. To the end part of the cylinder is fastened a metal plate, in which several holes are made for mounting the shaft on the bearings. A number of rectangular windows for loading the material are also cut from below and above this part. The input is 100 x 15 millimeters, the output is 20 x 30 millimeters.

To the lower part of the drum, 4 fixing paws are installed by the welding machine. On them and on the frame holes are made, after which the entire grinding mechanism is tightly attached to the frame by bolts. Then knives should be installed on the chopper for the branches themselves. They are fixed to the steel shaft to two discs. On the latter, holes are also made. Three shafts are mounted on the shaft, after which it is inserted into the end of the casing. At its ends, the bearings are mounted with support caps. The latter are attached to the casing with bolts. At this stage, the question of how to make a homemade chip shredder with your own hands can be considered closed.
