About absinthe

How to drink absinthe

Absinthe is drunk as an aperitif, and after dinner. They serve it both on receptions, and as a treat for friends who come to visit you. As an aperitif, absinthe is consumed in its pure form (no more than 30 grams per person), pre-cooled. And in order to dilute the drink, sweet mineral water, tonics (the ratio of one part of absinthe to three parts of water) is suitable. But they change the transparency of absinthe, making it turbid, so there are more original options.

The use of absinthe. Ways

  • Pour a glass of absinthe into the glass glass "by eye". Fire and wait until it burns. Blow and drink right away, with a volley, without having a snack.
  • Pour half a glass of absinthe, put a spoon on the edge of the container. Put a cube of sugar on it. Top up in a glass with a spoon with refined ice water. To drink, not hurrying.

Absinthe with juice and not only

1. Pour two thirds of a glass of absinthe and set it on fire. Take a piece of sugar. Put it on a teaspoon and hold it over a burning drink. Wait until the sugar melts, and add the caramel to the absinthe. Then add orange juice.

2. You need to mix martini with vodka, and in another glass - mead with absinthe. Drink in small sips, alternating with each other.

3. Two-thirds of a glass of birch juice is poured in, absinthe is added, which has been previously set on fire. Drink slowly, not hurrying.

How to drink absinthe with citrus

Absinthe is perfectly combined to taste with lemon, orange, lime and other citrus. We take one slice, for example, an orange. Clean from the film and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon. Then put it on the spoon. Separately in the glass pour and ignite one part of the absinthe. Above the flames we hold a spoon with a slice, and press another appliance on an orange to squeeze out the juice from it. Slightly cool and, inserting a straw, served to guests or use themselves.

How to drink absinthe: dishes and accessories

Absinthe is drunk from ordinary glasses or glasses. Ideally, the dishes should have edges that expand upward. When igniting the drink, consider the thickness of the glass walls and the temperature. It is better to rinse the dishes with hot water before the process to avoid spoilage. In addition, I want to note that a special "absinth spoon" often comes with a bottle of absinthe, which you will use for cocktail variations instead of tea.
