Yasenets white: cultivation and care

The white ashen (otherwise - wild tubberry, badan, ash tree) is a perennial plant of the family of rutas, widespread practically throughout the territory of Russia. It grows in a compact, compactly assembled bush.

White ashen: burning bush

People call such a culture an "burning bush" for the ability to ignite in dry hot weather, provided that a burning match is brought to the plant. This is due to the release of volatile essential oils into the surrounding atmosphere (most intensively this occurs during the flowering period), which can easily catch fire. It is interesting that for the plant itself the flame does not bear any consequences.

White ashen is mentioned even in the Bible. During the wanderings of Moses, who was in the wilderness of the sheep, a burning bush appeared, from the flames of which he heard the voice of the god Yahweh, who ordered the promulgation of the Jewish people from Egypt to the Earth . This was the ash.

External characteristics of the plant

In height, the described plant reaches about a meter and is characterized by a densely pubescent, erect stalk. The glandular hairs, when in contact with the skin, release a substance that causes burns.

And they are not immediately apparent, but after a few hours and can develop into poorly healing and bursting blisters. Therefore, to work with this, at first glance, harmless, the plant is recommended only in gloves. Obviously, therefore in Latin it is called Dictamnus, which in translation means "punishing bush".

Leaves of a green-leaved color lemon-green with a silvery outflow, long-petioled, dense, solid at the base of the bush, and on the stalk odd-pinnate. The Russian name of the ash tree was due to the external similarity to the tree - ash. The root system is branched, with a thick underground stalk and a system of filiform long processes.

Yasenets as a garden plant

The white ashen, the photo of which you can see in our article, is an attractive plant, characterized by very fragrant, white flowers (about 2.5 cm in diameter) with red veins collected in racemose high inflorescences (about 25 cm in height).

Its flowers, each of which has 10 curved stamens, are characterized by an irregular shape. One of the five petals faces down, the other four are raised. The white ashen, all parts of which have a specific lemon flavor during grinding, pleases with its flowering in June and July for 30-45 days.

Fruit of the plant - consisting of 5 nests of the capsule. Seeds are shiny, black, ripen in August. But they should be collected somewhat earlier, since at full maturity the plant shoots them for a long distance.

Relating to the early lushly flowering perennials, the white ash is often found in the gardens. It looks great in group plantings, on lawns, in rockeries, it is original against a background of stones near which likes to grow in the nature. Ideal for linear single plantations along garden paths. It is well combined with low perennials: viable, cot, antenna, acenia, verbeynikom.

Reproduction: ways

Blossoms white ash for the 4th year of planting. The plant can be propagated by seeds, green cuttings and bush division, which is produced in early spring or autumn. In the summer, you can apply the method of propagation by cuttings, which before planting is recommended to be treated with growth stimulant and covered with a plastic bottle for fastest rooting.

For this method of reproduction, it is required to take young shoots, since adults and partially lignified stalks for cuttings will not work, because they do not form roots.

With the seed method, the optimum planting time is autumn. Only freshly harvested seeds have high germination. Also, sowing can be done in autumn and spring, using stratified seeds for this .

Appeared sprouts can be placed in a small greenhouse, grown for 3 years, and then planted on a permanent place: 4-7 plants per 1 m². At one place, plants can be up to 8 years old. Then you need a second transplant.

White ashen: cultivation

It is recommended to choose sunny areas for planting a young woman. Not bad plant will feel in the shade. It does not like moist soil, so when planting, it is necessary to avoid the proximity of groundwater. It is desirable to provide good drainage.

Care for a youngster is not particularly difficult: watering, loosening the soil, weeding from weeds, mulching. During the flowering period, fertilizing with complex fertilizers is recommended. For the winter does not require any shelter.

White ashen, which contains a large number of useful substances, is widely used in folk medicine. Important factors in this case are timely collection, proper procurement and drying of raw materials and competent storage.

The plant is useful in the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system, regulates the menstrual cycle in women, helps with chronic cystitis and kidney stone disease. The ash tree perfectly eliminates bloating and removes worms. Infusions from this herb are used in the treatment of gastritis and flatulence. Effective for insomnia, overwork, asthenia.
