How to do injections to children, so as not to harm

Your baby is sick, the doctor has prescribed an intramuscular injection of medicines, it is not possible to find an experienced nurse, and injections are necessary, and not once a day. In this case, knowledge of the basic rules will help to make an injection yourself. For this you will need to purchase at the pharmacy:

1. The drug for injection, which must be mandatory in the dosage prescribed by the doctor. Be sure to check the expiry date of the drug.

4. Disposable syringes of the required volume, which depends on the dosage of the prescribed drug. In pharmacies you can find special syringes with a small and more toned needle, designed for children.

Before you do injections to children, you need to thoroughly wash your hands using soap or a disinfectant.

Intramuscular injection is done in the gluteus muscle. To determine the site of the injection, you need a conditional division of the buttocks into 4 parts. The injections to children are done in the upper right quarter (the outer part of the buttock). When you enter the needle, it is very important to maintain calm and confident movement, as this is the least painless occurrence of the needle.

Vitamin preparations in the ampoule are in liquid form. Before injecting the children, the buttock should be massaged with gentle movements. Hands should be warm and should not cause tension of the gluteus muscle.

Hold the syringe in your right hand, now, with a vigorous but controlled movement, you need to insert the needle at an angle of 90 °, a depth of about ¾ of the needle.

Your thumb should be on the piston, and the index finger and the middle one should fix the syringe in your hand. Then slowly enter the drug.

After the administration of the drug, it is necessary to gently press the place of needle insertion with a cotton swab, pull it out with a sharp movement, press the remaining hole and massage for a few seconds.
