How to connect the chandelier yourself.

To assemble a new chandelier and hang it to the ceiling - the task is not so complicated, but it is correct to connect the necessary wires, so that all the bulbs light up, as it is necessary, is not obtained by everyone. Of course, it is good if there is a friend or relative who understands the intricacies of electricity, but if this is not available, then it becomes necessary to call an electrician. Let's try to figure out how to connect the chandelier, without resorting to the help of specialists.

Before starting the installation work on the luminaire, it is necessary to disconnect the power supply and, before connecting the chandelier, you should make sure that there is no voltage in the wires with a probe or tester. By connecting the lamp, you will see three wires sticking out of the ceiling, among which only one is zero. These wires are needed to connect two different groups of lamps to the electrical network on a chandelier or lamp. By properly connecting these wires, you can then turn on all the lamps at the same time or use one group of lamps. Often, wires on the ceiling are not marked. However, usually the blue color of the electrical wire is zero, and the brown marks the phase. The wires of the "phase" go to the switch, the wire referring to the "zero" goes to the junction box.

Correctly determine where the phase is located, and where the zero is, it is easy enough with the help of a special screwdriver-indicator. The indicator must be checked for work before starting work.

Now it is the turn of those wires that come out of the connected chandelier. They should also be three: blue, brown and yellow-green, which is the ground wire. This wire should simply be insulated with electrical tape, nothing more to do with it is required. From each lamp in the connected chandelier there is a brown and blue electric wire. Isolation on all wires should be carefully cleaned and twisted wires together, observing the color matching. When the insulation from all wires is removed, you need to spread their ends in different directions from each other, so that they do not close the wires. Now you need to turn on the power and turn on the indicator one by one to touch each end of the wire. If the light on the indicator light comes on when the wire is touched, then this is the "phase", if not, "zero". Remember or mark with insulation "zero". After that, the blue wires must be connected to zero, and the brown wires to the phase. If you did everything right, then when you turn on the chandelier, all the light bulbs in it should light up.

Connect the chandelier, which works in two lighting modes, you can do otherwise. For this, the wires of blue color, just like in the first case, are twisted and connected to the zero electrical line located on the ceiling. Brown wires are divided into two groups and then connected to two phase conductors on the ceiling. However, for the operation of such a chandelier with two lighting modes, it is necessary to install a special double switch.

There is another important point in the matter of how to connect the chandelier yourself. Often, old houses are equipped with aluminum wiring, and modern lighting fixtures have mainly copper wires. In the event that you simply twist the aluminum and copper wires, the connection point will necessarily begin to heat, which can easily lead to a short circuit. What to do in this case? To connect such wires, it is best to use a terminal. This will not only prevent heating, but also make the connection of the chandelier more convenient.
