How is the rainwater well constructed? What materials are made of similar structures?

What does storm sewage consist of?

This system is a whole network of closed or open channels. They are connected to the water collectors at the points of their intersection. Storm sewage consists of canals, water collectors, sand catchers and filters. In addition, it includes an observation and a rainwater well. The latter has the form of a rectangular container made of polypropylene or polymer concrete.

Principle of operation of the system

Those who do not know what a livnevka in a private house, often confuse it with a drainage drainage, consisting of a whole network of pipes that are laid below the foundation level. Despite some similarities, these systems have a different device and purpose.

Installation of storm sewage is carried out simultaneously with the installation of the roof. Throughout the perimeter of the roof there is a whole network of gutters, funnels and gutters. Under each of the pipes there is a rainwater intake. It is connected to a system through which water is removed from the site.

Design features of the rainwater wells

We note at once that they consist of several elements. The kit includes a hatch grille, a bottom with a tray and a glass. The latter is also called a patron. It collects excess garbage and dirt, so it must be systematically cleaned. The glass consists of a sealing base, a basket and a caisson septum.

Removable grille is made of metal or plastic. On concrete wells, cast-iron hatches are most often installed , capable of withstanding significant loads. As a rule, this option is mounted on the roadway. For plastic structures, lighter grids of rainwater wells made of galvanized steel are suitable. Such products are resistant to corrosion. But they are much more expensive. The cheapest and short-lived are plastic hatches. They are recommended for use in small areas where there is no intensive traffic.

Existing varieties

Depending on the design features that characterize one or another rainwater well, they can be divided into two main groups. The first includes products with a straight-flow branch, located in the bottom of the body. The drains that enter this structure move from top to bottom. One of the main advantages of vertical water intake systems is considered to be a sufficiently high throughput. One of the most important drawbacks is the impossibility of arranging a hydraulic shutter.

The second group includes structures with a lateral branch installed in one of the walls of the shell. Vertical flow, trapped inside such a receiver, changes the trajectory of motion to the horizontal plane. Such a design is not capable of providing high throughput. But it can be equipped with a hydraulic shutter, which prevents further spread of unpleasant smells coming from the storm sewer system.

Vertical receivers of the first type are often used to equip sewage channels located along roads. Horizontal structures belonging to the second category are usually used to divert drains from the foundations of residential or communal buildings. In addition, the currently available rainwater receivers can be classified according to the material used for their production. The most popular are polymer, cast iron and concrete structures. Each of these varieties has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Plastic rainwater well

Until recently, cast iron and concrete were used for the production of this device. Modern manufacturers have replenished this list with one more modification, created from high-strength plastic. At first glance it seems that this is not a very practical innovation. However, the use of modern technologies makes it possible to make the design of such a receiver as reliable as possible.

Plastic has several significant advantages. First of all, it is easy and convenient to install. The water intake well made from it is protected not only from corrosion, but also from chemical and mechanical damage.

Reinforced concrete structures

Such products can often be seen on the territory of industrial enterprises and fleets. Mount them on the site near the house is completely pointless. First, reinforced concrete stormwater receivers are quite large in weight. In order to transport and install them, you will have to spend additional funds. And this is, to put it mildly, a considerable amount. In addition, in the process of assembling such a structure, it is necessary to employ a special technique and several workers. Secondly, the device itself is considered an expensive pleasure. To purchase it will have to pay a tidy sum.

Plus, the reinforced concrete water well requires additional waterproofing. In the course of the work on its walls and bottom, a special compound is applied. For this, hot bitumen or cement mixed with liquid glass is often used.
