Pear Favor: Variety Description

One of the most popular varieties of pears is the Lubimica Clappa, or, as it is still called, the Pear Favorotka. It was withdrawn a long time ago, and during its existence the variety managed to win the love of summer residents.

A bit of history

Pear was bred in America by breeder T. Klapp in 1960. To obtain it, crossed seeds of the Forest Beauty were used.

The plant is zoned. It is successfully grown in the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions. In addition to Russia, the Favoru pear is successfully grown in Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, and some Asian countries.

Description

According to the description, the Favor pear is a tall tree, reaching a height of more than five meters. In an adult plant, the shape of the crown is wide-angled, and in the young, the shape is pyramidal. The main branches are very thick, extending from the main stem at right angles.

For the Favor pear, the bark is characterized by weak peeling on the main trunk. On the branches it is smooth. All outgoing shoots are thick, with a large number of gray lentils. The leaf near the tree is oval, pointed at the base. It is not lowered, on the edge of small-sawed.

The plant blooms with white flowers, collected in inflorescences from five pieces in each. The plant does not have the aroma, it is considered self-fertile. For pollination, pears of other varieties are needed.

Fruit

According to the description of the variety, the Favor pear gives large fruits of a beautiful oval-elongated shape. As ripeness, their peel is dyed yellow. The skin itself is smooth, without roughness. The variety is characterized by small black dots located on the skin.

Some fruits can have a beautiful reddish blush. Under it is a light flesh. It is very juicy, pleasant sweet and sour taste.

Fruits ripen in late August. They are collected and processed, as pears are not stored for more than two weeks.

If the fruits do not collect in time, then they crumble. The harvested crop can be transported. At the same time, its external characteristics do not change and remain at a sufficiently high level.

Productivity

The best for the Favorite Pollinators are the varieties Williams or Bere Jifar.

The first harvest can be harvested from the tree for the seventh year after planting. When observing the rules of agricultural technology from one plant, you can get more than thirty kilograms of tasty, aromatic pears.

Advantages and disadvantages

Pear Favorite has strengths and weaknesses. The merits include the following:

  1. Early maturation. Fruits can be harvested in the second half of August.
  2. High frost resistance. According to reviews, Pear Favorita is successfully grown in the Urals.
  3. Uncomplicated. The plant grows well and fructifies even on poor soils. However, the best harvests are collected on light and fertile land.

The disadvantages are only that the plant is self-fertile and the first harvest yields in the seventh year, which is quite late.

Cultivation

Pear Favor is one of those varieties that are undemanding to the conditions of farming, but still require certain simple rules of cultivation.

  1. For poor and medium fertility soils, it is necessary to annually make at least three kilograms of organic fertilizers with the addition of saltpeter (about 50 grams).
  2. The soil on which the plant will be grown must be loose. This will allow the roots of the plant to breathe and develop properly.
  3. In southern regions, seedlings are recommended to be planted on a permanent place at the age of one year. When planting a tree in more northern regions, it is recommended to use planting material not older than two years.
  4. When planting, it is necessary to properly prepare a landing pit. On clay soils it is recommended to make a pit under fruit trees with a depth of at least a meter and a diameter of about 80 centimeters. A smaller pit is pit on peat soils.
  5. To facilitate the rooting of the bottom of the landing pit loosens to a depth of twenty centimeters. Also, this action facilitates rapid adaptation of the tree after transplantation.

If you plan to plant the Favor pear for spring, then the planting pit is prepared from autumn. During planting, you need to ensure that the roots are straightened, and the root neck of the tree is located above the soil level by three centimeters or slightly more, but not less.

Immediately after planting, the pear is watered abundantly, pouring in at least three buckets of water for one plant.

Care

To get an abundant level crop, the plant needs to be groomed. The complex of measures includes not only loosening, regular mulching, but also fertilization, pruning, watering.

  1. When watering it is necessary to use so much water that it penetrates to a depth of at least eighty centimeters.
  2. In the first year after planting, you need to use about three buckets of water per tree. Pour the pear at least four times a season.
  3. For the growing season, the pear should be fed twice. Nitrogenous fertilizers are made during the period of active growth of the crown (approximately until the beginning of September). Since autumn, phosphorus-potassium fertilizers have been applied to the tree, which help the root system develop and prepare the plant for the rest period.

According to the rules of care, the pear must be cut off annually. This will form the correct crown. As a result of the formation, you can get more harvest than with the growth of the tree "at your discretion."

Tree pruning is carried out according to general rules applicable to all types of fruit trees.

Opinions of gardeners

Almost all gardeners who grow or grow this pear variety on their sites, express positive opinions about it. Favoritka favorably differs from other varieties by its lack of demand for soil and growth conditions.

Favoritka refers to varieties that yield the harvest for the seventh year, and in some conditions of growth - even later. To get a crop earlier, gardeners are recommended to give more power to the tree and to properly prepare a planting pit. This helps to approximate the fruiting term for a couple of years.

When grown on heavy clay soils, the pear comes into fruiting later. In arid regions, it produces small fruits, but without loss of flavor.

Pear Favor, whose photo is presented in this article, is unpretentious compared to other varieties of pears.

Diseases

Favorite can be affected by a variety of diseases and pests. Of pests, the plant most often affects aphids. To combat it, you can use any drugs available in the summer cottage store.

Of diseases the pear is most often affected by the scab. To combat this disease, it is necessary to conduct timely treatment of the plant in the area with available preparations from fungal diseases.

With proper care, the plant will annually produce stable, large yields. It will not hurt. Juicy fruits can be enjoyed until the fall.
