Around this time, designer Emmanuelle Kahn created something similar - a small author's collection for the clothing catalog La Redoute.

This idea was also picked up by fashion designer Donna Karan. In 1985 her first capsule collection for the office was presented. She had only 7 pieces of clothing: skirts, pants, dresses. Models, first defiling only in body and pantyhose, gradually showed the entire collection, changing the same objects in different combinations and demonstrating their interchangeability.

This idea suited both designers and their clients, and soon almost every fashion house had its capsule collections.

What is a capsule collection of clothes in the modern sense?

If initially the capsule was more like an attempt to offer the woman a basic wardrobe for a particular case, today this concept is used more widely. These are several pieces of clothing, united by one theme or idea. Capsular collection is created to attract new customers, advertise and promote the brand.

Sometimes to create a capsule, several creative persons are united, then this is often called a collaboration.

Often the reason for creating a capsule collection may be a special event or an important date. They determine the overall mood of the entire line.

Among all the above variants of capsule collections, it is possible to single out especially famous and popular ones, namely those that became legends, and things from them are bought up in an instant.

If we talk about the collaboration of cult designers with democratic brands, we can not help recalling the designer of shoes Jimmy Choo, who created a super popular capsule collection of sheepskin boots with stones and rhinestones for the brand Ugg of Australia. Stores H & M, producing goods in the mass market category, regularly present capsules from fashion designers: Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvan.

Stars too often become invited designers and create their capsules under the auspices of a fashion brand or fashion house. So, the singer Rihanna - often appears in a role of the designer.
