How does the pion-shaped rose multiply?

Bouquet of pion-shaped roses is gentle and gorgeous. An amateur flower grower who would not have this recognized Queen of the summer in his collection can not be found in our time. In order to multiply a favorite variety, you need to know the rules by which a pion-shaped rose develops.

The most common and simple way is to divide the bush. It can be done only in the spring. For the central Russia, this time is at the end of April. In southern areas, this time comes earlier. It is important to perform this agrotechnical operation in advance, until the pion-shaped rose dissolves the kidneys. It is not necessary to dig out the entire bush. You can only divide it into parts. The excavated bush needs to be cleaned from the excess shoots by the pruner and shorten the long roots, leaving only three or five kidneys above them, which should be facing outwards. Formed wounds need to be greased with garden wax. Then moisten the roots with a manure bolt mixed with clay, and plant the cuttings in a prepared pit. Pion-shaped rose gives abundant radical offspring, so this method of reproduction is very suitable for it.

Another way of reproduction is the rooting of the layers. For this purpose, a pion-shaped rose that has long lateral branches in the root neck zone, one or two years old, will do. Next to the bush, you need to make a groove in the soil and put the plant in it. In the place where it is planned to get new roots, the knife needs to cut the bark. Then, with a hairpin made of thick wire, fix the branch in the groove, sprinkle with earth and water it abundantly. Lift the top and fix it on a wooden peg. With this method of reproduction, it is important not to allow the soil to dry out at the rooting site. You need to make a selection in the beginning of summer, it is best in June, then by autumn in the garden there will be one more pion-shaped rose. The photo attached to this article depicts already a large bush attached to the garden grilles. From such a plant it is convenient to make several layers at once. To transplant to a permanent place is better in the spring.

Another very common way of breeding pion-shaped roses is cuttings. For this, branches with or without flowers are suitable. They should be in a semi-matured state and have an average thickness. For cuttings, their central part is selected, cutting off the tip and leaving two or three internodes and several leaves in the upper part. It is important to make the lower cut slightly oblique and right under the lower kidney. On the upper side, it should be even, receding from the upper kidney by one centimeter. This work needs to be done overcast, but better in rainy weather, and in the morning, while the plant is full of juice and lunar energy. Plant cuttings in a greenhouse or a three-liter jar, covering the burdock leaf from the sun for the first time. This type of reproduction requires careful care and regular watering, but it allows you to immediately get a large number of seedlings of the pion-shaped rose. Root cuttings will take root almost all summer, only in the spring of next year they can be excavated and transplanted to a permanent place in the garden.
