How do lichens look? Description of the disease with a photo

Inflammatory disease of certain areas of the skin, characterized by a violation of pigmentation, desquamation, hair loss and itching in medical practice is called lichen. As a rule, this ailment is infectious or fungal in nature. In this article, we will try to understand how the lichens look. There are several forms of this disease.

Pink lichen

The disease is allergic-infectious and occurs in people of all age groups. What does the lichen look like? On the skin of the back and trunk appear flaky round spots of light pink color. As a rule, they are not more than three centimeters in diameter. And at first one, so-called mother's spot is formed. Its central part after a few days begins to peel, wrinkle and acquires a pale yellowish hue. After a week, similar rashes of smaller size appear in the region of the chest and back. They are not inclined to merge. Rashes cause discomfort and itching.

Peregrine lichen

Under this name in medicine is understood as dermatosis of fungal nature. What do the lichen- like forms look like? The disease begins with the formation of a round single patch of pink hue. Then exactly the same rashes appear on the abdomen, chest, back and scalp. At the same time, skin changes are not inflammatory. They have a yellowish-brown color, and when scraping, noticeably insignificant peeling. Spots are prone to fusion and growth. Itching, as a rule, is not observed. The predisposing factor to the occurrence of this ailment is excessive sweating (especially for obese people), as well as a high ambient temperature.

Shingles

The adults and elderly people are most susceptible to the disease. Provocative moments are stresses, decreased immunity and infectious diseases. What does the shingles look like ? This pathology is characterized by inflammation of the nerve ganglia. The course of the disease can be very diverse, from minor rashes to the defeat of the central nervous system. The illness is preceded by painful sensations all over the body. Four days later, small vesicles appear, which, after a while, turn into crusts. In some cases, peeling is possible.

Ringworm

It is of an exceptionally fungal nature, affecting the scalp, smooth skin and, in rare cases, legs. What does the lichen look like? A characteristic feature of the disease is a strong peeling with the formation of otrepid scales of gray color. On the head, as a rule, foci of alopecia appear. Often there is a breakdown of hair practically at the root itself. In affected areas deprive erythema with bubbles, covered with a light coating. Spots are prone to increase.

Red lichen

The second name of the disease is dermatosis. The causes of the disease are various kinds of viral, neurogenic, allergic, endocrine and infectious factors. How does a man have lichen? This form of the disease affects the mucous membranes, skin, nails and hair. Rashes are localized on the surface of the forearm, legs, trunk, genital organs, mouth. They are irregularly shaped papules of red color with an impression in the center. They are characterized by a peculiar waxy luster, the presence of plaques and a shallow blood-line.
