How are the rights and duties of a citizen connected? Basic rights and duties of a citizen

According to the constitutions and other higher state documents, most of them are positioned as legal. This is provided for by acts of international law, by agreements, and by the principles of the United Nations. The most important thing in a civilized state is the rights and duties of its citizens, which must be observed first of all. Their totality may be different in certain countries, but the general principle is approximately the same. So, the rights and duties of a citizen of Ukraine are practically the same as those of the citizens of most states of the world.

How are they related?

Meanwhile, rights and obligations are inseparable, and more precisely, duties are always tied to rights. Through what and how are the rights and duties of a citizen connected ? First of all, with the help of a very simple rule - the existence of the law generates the duty of its compliance by other persons. My right is in the role of another person. I have the right to live, accordingly, the duty of other people is to respect and not to violate this right. How are the rights and duties of a citizen connected ? Implies the wisdom of using rights. Similarly, my right to life gives me the duty to dispose of it reasonably, within the law and without violating the rights and interests of others.

Why are they connected?

The law itself is quite abstract and practically does not set the framework for its limitations, which can be dangerous for society. The connection of the rights and duties of a citizen allows to regulate the actions of the subjects of society and the state in such a way that violation of someone's rights is not allowed. Moreover, the legal system is built in such a way that a subject with a large number of rights has more responsibilities. This creates unity of rights and duties of citizens, their right proportion, which does not allow the authoritative subjects to abuse their prerogatives. Every right will be accompanied by such a duty, which does not allow to violate the interests of others. Using the famous phrase, "the more power, the more responsibility for it." One way or another, but for each of its rights we bear a certain responsibility, even for the so-called natural rights.

And what if ...

Imagine a state that does not know how the rights and duties of a citizen are connected, moreover, does not seek to create any connection. In this case, absolutely any right becomes unlimited: I have the right to use self-defense weapons, but there is no duty to use it only in extreme cases. I have the right to life, but there is no obligation to dispose of it within the framework of the law, based on the principles of respect for other members of society. Such examples can be continued indefinitely, but the meaning will be one - the lack of a close connection between rights and duties entails the birth and violence of anarchy in society. It's scary to imagine what the power actors could do, let alone the heads of state, if they had not had a huge number of responsibilities to their people, to other authorities, and even to other states and the world community.

Basic Rights and Responsibilities

If you recall history, turning to the antiquity or the Middle Ages, you can clearly see the consequences of the absence of any connection between rights and responsibilities. Slaves in a slave society had to observe a number of prohibitions, and they had a huge number of duties, whereas the masters and rulers had the opposite situation. Then no one understood how the rights and duties of a citizen or, in general, a person are connected.

At the moment, the list of basic rights and duties of a citizen is constantly increasing. With the advent of new rights, new responsibilities arise. The main list is contained in the constitutions and other high acts of the state, as well as the basic rights are enshrined in many international conventions and agreements.

Fundamental natural rights are the right to life, to freedom, to the voice. Derivatives from them are the rights to education, protection and so on. But absolutely they all generate duties, respectively, and the data also have its own "counterbalances". The main duties are inextricably linked with the rights of citizens, it is the duty and reason to dispose of their freedom, and limit themselves in freedom of speech, so as not to harm other people or slander them. The right to protection (security) presupposes, for example, the duty to maintain such protection and ensure such security, directly or indirectly, through taxes.
