Guilt. How to get rid of it?

Very often people, especially responsible and conscientious, are spoiled by an excessive sense of guilt. In this article, we will tell you about the main varieties of this feeling and how to get rid of it.
1. In most cases a person experiences a feeling of guilt when he is angry with other people. Especially it increases if negative thoughts spread to close and dear people (friends, children, parents, spouse). Very often this happens between children and parents. The reason for the appearance of this feeling lies in the belief that one person can not both love and be angry with him at the same time. In real life, such situations happen very often. Because the feeling of love is not anger, but indifference.

2. Often a person begins to feel guilty because of any negative emotions, for example, because of jealousy, envy, anger. All these feelings can be experienced, to one extent or another, by any cultural person. But if they exceed a certain threshold, then problems can begin. Therefore, every person needs to know that in negative emotions there is nothing wrong until they are under control.

3. Indifference is also a common cause of guilt. In most cases, it occurs in love couples, when one partner still loves another, while the feelings of the other gradually cool. How in this case to get rid of guilt? First of all, it should be understood that our emotions do not obey the rules. After all, we can not make us love, nor can we stop loving. Consciously a person can control only the manifestations of his emotions.

4. Sometimes a person begins to feel guilty for any action he has committed (treachery, rudeness). You need to understand that your actions are not so bad. It is necessary to learn to be independent of the opinion of society.

5. A person may begin to experience an unpleasant feeling of guilt when he has suffered any failure (he did not enter the institute, he could not study for one of the five students). As a rule, such people set themselves very high scores of results. As a result, they fail and suffer a sense of guilt. In this case, the person must learn to take pleasure not only from the result of his work, but also from the process.

6. Kind people often find themselves in a psychological trap. "I did not do everything to them (her, him) well." Often for this reason, feelings of guilt come from close people. As soon as they see (or it seems to them) that a loved one is suffering, they begin to feel guilty. The reason lies in the belief that the happiness and well-being of loved ones and other people depends solely on us. It is necessary to realize that one can not take responsibility for the happiness of another person.

7. Some people begin to experience a constant sense of guilt because they do not live up to the expectations of others. In this case, one must understand that a person lives and does something for his own sake, and not for the sake of constantly justifying someone's expectations.

A sense of guilt, like any other negative emotion, is not dangerous until it exceeds a certain threshold. The one with a sense of guilt "normal" is a responsible person with a sense of duty. But if it exceeds a certain level, a person begins to suffer neuroses, depressions, ceases to enjoy his work and life. Therefore, it is necessary to get rid of the hypertrophied sense of guilt.
