Grammar errors in Russian: examples

Grammar mistakes are made even by literate people. It is easy to see that some Russian rules do not cause difficulties, but others regularly stumble the majority. It's not so much that these rules are complex. Rather, they are simply uncomfortable, and some have so many exceptions and application features that their presentation takes up a whole sheet - it seems that they can not be learned without being an academician.

Consider the most common mistakes in the Russian language, not committed by students, but by literate people.

What is considered a grammatical error?

A grammatical error is a violation of the generally accepted established norm. Grammatical refers to any errors related to word formation (for example, the word suffixed with the wrong suffix), morphology (for example, incorrect verb deflection), syntax (for example, a non- participative turn that does not match the basic sentence ).

It is necessary to distinguish grammatical errors from orthographic or verbal ones.

The most common errors are related to punctuation:

1. Many people used to highlight "however" with commas and are very surprised when Word emphasizes a comma after it, like an error. More attentive note that a mistake comma after "however" is considered only when it is at the beginning of the sentence. Indeed, if the meaning of this word is similar to "all the same," "nevertheless," and it stands in the middle of the sentence, then it is considered an introductory, and it should be separated with commas. If it means "but", as, for example, in the sentence "But she did not understand it" (= "But she did not understand it"), then you do not need to put a comma.

2. Often there is confusion with the signs of "dash" and "colon". Many, faced with complex proposals in which the union is missed, intuitively understand that it is necessary to put a "solid" sign, rather than a comma. But which one? The rule is actually quite simple. It is necessary to find the most suitable words instead of the missed union.

If the meaning is suitable words such as "what", "because", "namely", then you need to put a dvuhchetochie. And also the colon is put, if the first sentence ends in words denoting perception and suggesting that after them a description will follow. It can be words: see, understand, feel, etc.

Examples:

I remember (that): it was evening, played a quiet pipe.

He was a complex person (namely): quick-tempered, bilious, moody.

I immediately recognized him: (because) he was wearing one yellow boot.

I see: a barge is floating, a barefooted boy is on it, tanned, unfamiliar, but flashes a smile and already waved at me for a second.

If you can insert words such as "a", "but", "and", "like", "this", "therefore", "like", then you need to use a dash.

Wide stepped (and) - trousers were torn.

Outside the sea, the heifer (it) is a half-carpet, yes the rupture is transport.

The wind blew - (therefore) groaned, the old bark creaked.

A dash is also placed when the words "if" or "when" can be added at the beginning of the sentence.

Examples:

(When) I thought about Grisha - he's right there.

(If) I'll get a fee - we'll wave at the sea!

Grammar Errors Related to Morphology

Complexities cause "nn" in suffixes (although glass, tin, wooden remember everything), it is especially difficult to deal with double "n" in adverbs. And also many people are confused by the use of particles not. A lot of educated people, unbeknownst to themselves, are mistaken in management. How correctly, "control" or "control over"? The confusion between them is another popular grammatical error. Example:

  • Control over the quality of performance;
  • Control over the execution of the order;
  • Water level monitoring.

Which option is correct? All. This or that kind of management in this case is selected depending on the features of the next word. For example, "control over" is used before verbal nouns (execute - execution). There are other subtleties.

In this article, not all common grammatical errors are mentioned. It is quite possible to learn not to do them by studying the rules. We hope that we managed to demonstrate that knowing the secrets of our native language is an exciting and sometimes superficial acquaintance with the rule in order to realize all its logic and expediency. We also hope that you noticed the use of the above rules in the article itself, and not just under the headings "examples."
