One tribe - one last name

Even in ancient times Chechen names were one whole, and accordingly, all members of the family were closely related. If someone from the family was hurt, the rest of the family stood up for him. Such a kinship among Chechens has its name "Taip" or "Taipan" - one genus, tribe or one surname. If the Chechens talk about a man, they will definitely specify from which he is a taiga. With respect to the family relationship, all its members call themselves "lice" or "wings", that is, brothers, and "voshalla" means a whole connection by the brotherhood.

The Origin of Chechen Surnames

In primitive times, when the members of the surname were few, they were all together, were one family. Later they began to divide themselves into branches and lines. When there were too many members in the family and there was not enough room for living, they began to develop new places, thus breaking up with their family. But this was not the reason for the collapse of fraternal relations, rather, on the contrary, their relationship only intensified when they recognized each other.

Male Chechen names and surnames are derived from the name of the ancestor. For example, take the name Kutayev. It comes from the name of Kutai, which in translation means "holy month". Of course, today it is difficult to say exactly how the Chechen names were formed, in particular Kutayev, since this process took a long time.
