Turkmenistan is a small state in Central Asia, located on the shore of the Caspian Sea. In addition to the official state flag of Turkmenistan, there is also a standard of the President of the country. What is depicted on them? How are their symbols deciphered?

Turkmenistan: general information

The state of Turkmenistan is located in Central Asia. It is surrounded by Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Kazakhstan. On the western side it is washed by the Caspian Sea. Most of the territory is covered by desert, and the main landscape here is dunes. Nevertheless, the country has many valuable minerals such as oil, lead, sulfur, mirabilite and iodine. And in terms of natural gas reserves, it ranks fourth in the world.

It is a neutral sovereign state, which gained independence in 1991. By the type of government, the country is a presidential republic. The real president of Turkmenistan is Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The capital of the country is the city of Ashgabat. The official language is Turkmen. Although the country is a secular state under the Constitution, Turkmen citizens mostly profess Islam.

The country has 5.5 million people. Approximately 80% of them are Turkmen, the rest of the population is represented by 58 nationalities. Most of them are Uzbeks, Russians, Kazakhs, Azerbaijanis and Tatars.

What does the flag of Turkmenistan look like?

The general view of the state flag was adopted in 1992. After minor changes, it was re-adopted in 2001. Its panel has a standard rectangular shape with a ratio of length and width - one to two.

The main color of the flag of Turkmenistan is green. It symbolizes peace, prosperity, prosperity, is a symbol of the earth and life. To the left, at the shaft, it is crossed by a red vertical strip, and above, near it, is a crescent with five stars.

On the red strip are depicted goyle - Turkmen carpet ornaments in such sequence: akhaltyke, yomud-gel, saryk, chovdur, ersar. Together they symbolize five regions of the country. But each of them has its own meaning. Göl "Akhaltyke", for example, depicts the annual cycle of our planet, and the Saryk Gol symbolizes death or the past.

On the sides, the red ribbon is also decorated with a golden ornament, like the frame of a carpet. At its base are depicted golden olive branches that intersect one another. They mean neutrality and sovereignty of the state. The crescent in the upper corner is a sign of a peaceful and clear sky. Stars also mean areas of the country, and white color is a symbol of sincerity and tranquility.

Presidential Standard

The standard of the President is no less important national symbol than the flag of Turkmenistan. This is the main attribute of the leader of the state and a kind of pledge to fulfill his duties. It was adopted in 1996.

The parties in the presidential flag correspond as 1: 1.5. His cloth, as in the national flag, is green. In the upper left corner, near the shaft, is a white crescent with five stars. In the right part of the canvas a thin golden line denotes a large golden octahedron.

Inside the octahedron is an eagle with five heads. The image of the bird on the flag shows the continuity of the country's heraldic traditions. It is believed that the two-headed eagle was depicted on the banner of the legendary leader of the ancestors of the Turkmen Oguz-Khan.

Three heads of the eagle look toward the shaft, the other two are turned to the right. In its paws the bird holds a double-headed snake, which symbolizes victory over the enemy and protection of the state. Above and below the eagle is the inscription: TÜRKMENISTANYŇ PREZIDENTI (President of Turkmenistan). On the shaft itself is usually a silver brace engraved with the name of the incumbent president of the country.

Embassy of Turkmenistan in Russia

In Russia there are two representations of the named country. In Moscow, in the Arbat district, the embassy of Turkmenistan is located, and in the city of Astrakhan there is a consulate. The embassy is located in the building of the former apartment house. It is located at Philippovskiy Pereulok 22. The main representative of Turkmenistan in Russia is Ambassador Batyr Niyazliyev.

The institution has several departments. The consular department is located at Maly Afanasyevsky Pereulok, 14. In addition to it, the embassy houses a representative office of the Turkmen Airlines airline, a cultural center and a Sunday school are opened, where they study the Turkmen language.
