Fish chimera refers to the bottom and deep-sea inhabitants of the sea depths. This applies to all its known varieties. It is distributed in all oceans and seas of the Southern and Northern Hemispheres. It feeds on small fish, crustaceans, mollusks and starfish. It has a length of up to one and a half meters.

Fish chimera, despite being clumsy and slow, is perfectly adapted to search for prey on the seabed, for example mollusks. Kinds of chimeras and areas of their residence

There are three main types of our fish:

  1. Chimera with a plow head belongs to the family Callorhynchidae, lives in shallow shallow water and, thanks to its sensitive, unusual form, snout, successfully finds in the sandy bottom of mollusks.
  2. With a stupid nose, belongs to the family Chimaeridae, dwells in deeper and darker waters, up to 500 meters of depth. Thanks to the supersensitive eyes, the ghost of a shark quickly and easily notices sea stars and other local sea-water inhabitants suitable for eating.
  3. The long-nosed fish of the Rhinochimaeridae family lives even deeper and has a sensitive elongated snout that is intended to search for mollusks where there is absolutely no light.

Chimera fish: how to cook in the oven

People from the camp, who decided that it was quite edible, say that the dishes from the sea rabbit are very tasty. In addition, on the shelves of shops now you can often see this delicacy. Here there is one plus - the eerie appearance of the chimera is already sold. So we, at the conclusion of our introductory article, will tell you the recipe for cooking our fish with vegetables in the oven. For this we need the following ingredients: one carcass of sea bunny, one carrot, one onion, fish seasonings, salt, half a lemon and a few spoons of vegetable oil.

The process of cooking chimeras in the oven

We begin to prepare with vegetables, since they must first be put out. Carrots are cleaned and rubbed on a large grater. We put the frying pan on the fire, pour a little vegetable oil and lay out the vegetable. Next, we clean the white onions, it is much more gentle than usual to taste, cut into half rings and also put in a frying pan. Vegetables mix, salt, add a little water (a few tablespoons) and close the lid. Stirring from time to time, stew until complete. It's time to take up the fish. Cut with a scissors short fin, available on the carcass. After that, cut it into small pieces. In a small saucer we pour seasonings and salt, mix them and rub each piece of fish with this mixture. She will marinate while our vegetables are stewed. Once the onions and carrots are ready, we take the baking mold and put the vegetables in it. Pre-lubricate the baking sheet with oil is not needed. Next, on top of the vegetables, lay out pieces of chimera fish and squeeze the juice of half a lemon onto it.
