First aid for fractures: practical advice

Providing first aid for fractures is an important part of the course of medical care not only at school or university. This knowledge in a certain situation can save a person's life and preserve health. And they will not be superfluous both for doctors and for ordinary people (teachers, parents, educators and service workers), because at any time an incident may occur in which someone will suffer. Therefore, some rules must be known to everyone.

Naturally, fractures can be different: closed or open type, single and numerous, and also they can be localized in different parts of the body. For example, the most serious and dangerous is the damage to the skull. The fact is that splinters of crushed bones can damage the brain, making trauma even more difficult. Provision of first aid for fractures of this type involves laying the injured person on the back and fixing the head with improvised means: a platen of clothes. Naturally, the patient should be urgently taken to the nearest trauma center. In this case, the transportation should be very careful and soft, so that the fragments do not budge.

In case of a fracture of the clavicle, the arm should be suspended on a kerchief or a piece of tissue, and also it can be tightly bandaged to the trunk. In this case, it must be bent 90 degrees with respect to the body. Then the victim is taken to the hospital.

The first aid for fractures of the costal bones is the imposition of a tight bandage around the body in the thorax. At the same time, it is necessary to be very careful, since it is possible to damage the lungs. During transportation it is necessary to keep the patient in a sitting or semi-reclining position.

Very severe is the spine trauma. In this case, the body can be partially or completely paralyzed. First aid for fractures of this type provides complete immobilization of a person with improvised means, as well as immediate delivery to a medical institution. Transportation should be extremely careful that the bones do not move even further and do not damage the spinal cord.

The first medical aid for fractures of pelvic bones should be carried out as follows: the patient must be laid on his back, spread his legs to the sides and in this position be taken to the hospital. At the same time, immobilization (fixing) of such damage is impossible.

The simplest (if only the bones are not severely fragmented) are fractures of the hands and feet. Providing first aid for trauma to such a plan is not difficult. You just need to tie a stick, stick, or fix it in another way to the damaged limb.

The most important task for any injuries is to ensure the immobility of bones. If necessary, the patient can give an anesthetic, but you need to monitor his consciousness, especially in severe injuries. With any fracture of the victim without delay, they are taken to the hospital, where doctors assess his condition, fold bones and impose a cast.

It should be noted that the transportation in any case should be soft and careful, so as not to complicate the trauma.
