The exhaust manifold (VC) of the car engine is part of the exhaust system. Its role is to collect combustion products from all cylinders and, combining them, transfer them to the receiving tube. From there they will go to the catalyst, and after it - to the muffler.

The exhaust manifold is attached to the cylinder head of the power unit (cylinder head). The tightness of this joint is ensured by a special gasket. Due to the constant temperature loads, it sometimes breaks down. And although such a malfunction does not pose a serious threat to the engine, it is better to eliminate it immediately after detection.

Features of exhaust manifold design

Structurally, the exhaust manifold consists of several pipes, one of which is connected to one. Its geometric shapes and mountings for each engine are different. The VC is usually made of high-carbon cast iron or steel. Its side, which is attached to the cylinder head, has a certain shape corresponding to the arrangement of the exhaust ports. The connection of the manifold to the cylinder head of the VAZ cars is provided by special pins screwed into its body. Their number depends on the form of VC.

Gasket

The laying of the collector is made by stamping from asbestos. This material is perfectly suited for these purposes: it has excellent resistance to high temperatures, is strong enough, and is also capable of contracting, ensuring tightness of the connection. For greater strength, VC seals can be reinforced with steel.

How long is the exhaust manifold gasket

The exhaust manifold gasket does not apply to those elements whose replacement is stipulated in the maintenance schedule. It can serve for two years, and five, and ten. Her condition does not depend on age and mileage. The only factor that affects the duration of its service is the correct operation of the engine.   3. Dismount the air filter housing.
  4. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the fuel pipes from the throttle assembly.
  5. We disconnect plugs of the gauge of a throttle valve and regulator of idling.
  6. We disconnect hoses of ventilation картера, the amplifier of brakes from a receiver.
  7. We dismantle the receiver itself, we disconnect the connectors of the wires of the injection control unit.
  8. We remove the fuel rail (do not unscrew the nozzles).

  11. We remove the old gasket.
  12. Using a knife (spatula), gently clean the mating surfaces of the collector and cylinder head.
  13. We install a new gasket.
  14. We perform the installation in the reverse order.
  15. Fill the coolant to the desired level.

Change the gasket of VC to VAZ 2110

  12. Dismantle the VC.
  13. We remove the old gasket or its remaining fragments.
  14. We clean the joints on the manifold and on the cylinder head.
  15. We install a new gasket.
  16. We install dismantled elements.
  17. Do not forget to pour the antifreeze antifreeze.

  3. Remove the fuel rail with injectors.
  4. Remove the front eyebolt mounting nut and remove it.
  5. Unscrew the nuts fixing the heat shield of the intake pipe, remove it.
  6. Remove the two upper and then the upper two nuts securing the intake manifold to the cylinder head.
  7. Using the extension for the handle of the key, unscrew the two remaining (lower) nuts.
  8. Remove the intake manifold.
  9. Remove the heat shield of the starter.
  10. Remove the "mass" wire fixing nut to the cylinder head. Remove the conductor tip.
  11. Remove the three VK mount nuts and disassemble it.
  12. Remove the seal, peel the bond surfaces and install a new gasket.
  13. Install the removed parts in the reverse order, pour in the coolant.
