Electrophoresis: Contraindications and Indications for Use

Electrophoresis, contraindications to which do not tolerate neglect, is a rather complex, special treatment complex. It combines the effect on the human body of a constant current charge and the various medicaments introduced through the mucous membranes or skin of particles. The technique and procedure for performing electrophoresis are similar to those used in the galvanization procedure. In the procedure of electrophoresis (the contraindications are listed below), the entire surface of the hydrophilic tissue liner is usually wetted, which is directed towards the skin of the patient with a solution of the desired drug substance. After the entire procedure of electrophoresis, the gasket is rinsed in boiled warm water.

When performing the procedure of electrophoresis, medicinal substances first accumulate in the skin depot, and from there they gradually enter the lymph and blood, after which they are evenly distributed throughout the body, while providing a good therapeutic effect on cells and tissues. During electrophoresis, therapeutic action by a constant weak current is carried out necessarily taking into account all the features of the body construction, without exception, and the electrodes are installed on the skin areas connected with the internal organs by vegetative innervation. So, with local effects through the vegetative pathways, various medicinal substances undoubtedly influence the specific systems and organs of the human body.

The current supplied to the patient is dosed by density. Dosimetry uses subjective, personal feelings of the patient.

In the procedure, he must unequivocally feel a slight tingling (tingling) under the electrodes. If a burning sensation occurs, it is a signal to immediately reduce the current density.

Electrophoresis (contraindications are available) has a number of advantages:

• the possibility of introducing drugs into any of the localization and size of the skin surface without disturbing its integrity;

• the action of drugs occurs against the background of the electrochemical regimes of tissues and cells changed under the influence of a constant discharge;

• the introduction of small dosage concentrations of drugs to avoid side effects from the use;

• long delays of ions of medicinal substances in the skin depot, as well as subsequent uniform slow intake of them into the body;

• the possibility of concentrated exposure to drugs in a small area of the body;

• the possibility of simultaneous introduction from different poles of ions of different drugs that have different signs;

• Absence of any irritating effect of the medicinal substances themselves on sensitive mucous membranes of the intestine and stomach.

Electrophoresis: indications

Neurology: Neuromyositis, radiculitis, neuritis, neuralgia, neurasthenia, migraine, neuroses, organic diseases of the central nervous system.

Cardiology: heart disease (ischemic, chronic) without exacerbation, hypertensive disease of both I and II stages.

Therapy: chronic and acute bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia.

ENT: tonsillitis, maxillary sinusitis, otitis media, pharyngitis.

Gynecology: cervical erosion , endometriosis, colpitis, endometritis, cervicitis.

Urology: prostatitis, cystitis, pyelonephritis.

Gastroenterology: ulcer, colitis, gastritis with decreased and increased secretion, cholecystitis.

Surgery: the consequences of burns, postoperative wounds.

Dermatology: postgreous scars, seborrhea, couperose.

Since electrophoresis - physiotherapy, combining the effect of direct current on the body and the drug administered with it, it clearly has contraindications. After all, not all are allowed to conduct through the body current.

Electrophoresis: contraindications

- Inflammatory processes;

- Acute dermatitis;

- Purulent processes;

- Intolerance to current;

- Malignant tumors;

- Fever;

- Bronchial asthma (severe form).

This is definitely worth taking note.
