Cervicitis - treatment, diagnosis, symptoms.

What is endocervicitis? Endocervicitis (cervicitis) is a disease characterized by inflammation of the cervix. It is characterized by turbid, mucous or purulent discharge, blunt pain in the lower abdomen, pain during urination, pain during intercourse. Chronic cervicitis, which has not been treated, can lead to erosion of the cervix and to the global spread of infection.

Cervicitis is an infectious disease, and it can be caused by the following groups of bacteria - chlamydia, gonococci, trichomonads, and sometimes other microbes.

Symptoms of the disease

In the acute form of the disease, patients have abundant discharge, as well as dull pain in the lower abdomen. In addition, hyperemia and edema, cervical canal holes , ulceration and hemorrhage, protrusion of the mucous membrane often occur.

Depending on the nature of the pathogen, the signs that show endocervicitis differ, the symptoms of "gonorrheal" cervicitis, for example, usually appear immediately and acutely, all signs of the disease are clearly visible, it is the latter that distinguishes gonorrheal cervicitis from Chlamydia, in which these symptoms must be carefully detected .

If the patient has cervicitis, the treatment is not carried out and the disease continues to progress peacefully, then after some time she will pass into a chronic process, which is characterized by pseudo-erosions on the uterus and turbid mucus discharge.

Diagnosis of the disease

Cervicitis quite often can be asymptomatic, so patients rarely address this disease to a doctor. Most of the diseases are detected during a routine examination accidentally or during the treatment of patients to the doctor, in relation to other diseases. Diagnosis of the disease is aimed precisely at identifying the causes that cause inflammation in the cervix.

Data required for diagnosis:

  • Medical examination of the cervix
  • The results of colposcopy, which detail violations in the structure of the cervical epithelium.
  • Laboratory methods of diagnosis, minimum bakpasev and smear microscopy, as well as PCR.

The indicator of the presence of infection in the smear can be considered a large number of leukocytes. Bacteriological study can establish both the genus and the species of the bacterium, and in addition, it will help to choose the necessary antibiotic.

Cervicitis - treatment

Today there are a lot of different ways to treat this pathology, but it is still necessary to understand that the treatment of cervicitis consists primarily of eliminating the pathological factors that led to the development of the disease, otherwise this disease after repeated treatment can recur, again attacking Unprotected body. To such factors, first of all, it is necessary to include immune, metabolic and hormonal disorders in the body.

The choice of the drug depends on the pathogen, its resistance to the drug, the stage of the inflammation process, focusing on these parameters, the doctor chooses the antiviral, antibacterial or some other drug for treatment.

For example, with cervicitis caused by chlamydia, tetracycline antibiotics, say monomycin, or macrolides, say, erythromycin, are used. In addition, if a patient in a hospital due to the fact that he has cervicitis, treatment of his disease can be carried out not only with antibiotics and antiviral drugs, but also with drugs that have a local effect. These drugs, which can be produced, both in the form of creams, and in the form of candles, give additional protection to the body from the possible spread of the disease. But such treatment can be carried out only after antibiotics have coped with their main task and have weakened the disease.
