Drinking coffee during pregnancy

There is no definitive answer to the question about coffee for pregnant women. Some doctors say that in a small amount of coffee the future mother will not hurt, while others answer this question categorically "No!", Considering that this drink is extremely harmful to the health of the future baby and his mother.

Examining two and a half thousand expectant mothers, scientists concluded that exceeding this rate may increase the risk of the birth of a baby with a reduced weight. In American women who used coffee at a pregnancy in the amount of more than two hundred milligrams a day, births before the appointed time occurred twice as often, as studies of scientists from Permanente showed. Proceeding from this, American scientists and physicians came to the unanimous conclusion that the use of pregnant women coffee to a certain rate (200 mg) is completely safe.

Scientists from Yale (a private university in New Haven) came to a different conclusion. They believe that even a small dose of coffee during pregnancy, moreover, daily, can disrupt the correct formation of the heart in the future baby.

The experiments conducted on mammals (mice) showed that the use of caffeine by females led to the thinning of the septa in the heart chambers of the offspring. At the same time, the adult age increases fat deposition by twenty percent and the contractile function of the heart decreases by almost forty percent.

Coordinator of the research (Scott Rivkis) advised future mothers to drink coffee during pregnancy as little as possible, especially in the first trimester.

The Dutch scientists came to the conclusion, after examining seven thousand pregnant women, that drinking coffee inhibits the growth of a future child.

Joint US-Norwegian studies have shown that taking coffee during pregnancy increases the risk of a "hare's lip" in a baby.

As it turned out, those women who spurred on their favorite coffee drink more than three mugs per day during the first months of pregnancy, children were born with deviations of one and a half times more often than those who did not drink coffee at all.

To drink or not to drink coffee for pregnant women?

Here we must admit that the influence of coffee on the organism of the future mother can not be called positive. It can cause certain complications during childbirth and the period of pregnancy, negatively affect the health of the future baby.

If you really can not give up your favorite drink, try not to drink light coffee, limiting yourself to two mugs a day.

Alternatively, you can consume coffee without caffeine, which is practically not dangerous. The exception is people who suffer from gastric diseases.
