"Dog's heart". The problem of boundless immorality

The works of Mikhail Afanasievich Bulgakov are compelled to scrupulously analyze stories of stories and ideas embedded there. The latter, differing in their specificity and versatility, remain in the minds of the people for quite some time. They are not in a hurry to squander their potential for discussion.

The story "The Dog Heart" is a famous masterpiece, written in 1925, but missed the press after sixty years. The ban was provoked precisely by the sharp content of the manuscript, describing life and everyday life of the Soviet period in the 1920s.

The story of "monstrous history"

Before us is the body of a young man, who was still alive and had the name of Klim Chugunkin. Professor Preobrazhensky, feeling the need for experiments, takes out the essential gland of internal secretion, the pituitary gland, and also the sex glands, and decides to transplant these fragments to the domestic dog Sharik, who should eventually become a "man." No wonder that such a fantasy was rightly described as the "monstrous story" by the author himself.

Regarding the actual title of the story, it can be said that the word "canine" means "extremely bad" here. A kind and gentle dog turns into a disgusting, evil and ill-bred person, personifying all the low vices of the family. This is one of the significant problems of the "Dog Heart".

Characteristics of the characters in the story

Known at home and abroad, the talented professor of medicine Philip Philipovich Preobrazhensky is the main protagonist of the story. His work and aspirations are aimed at rejuvenating operations. In the afternoon patients come to him, and before going to bed the hardworking professor recruited new knowledge, studying medical tomes.

This person, who clearly sympathizes with pre-revolutionary beliefs, symbolizes high education and undoubted upbringing. However, the professor does not deny the pleasure of amusing his stomach with tasty dishes or elevating his pride in high circles of society.

The dog Sharik is a very clever and good-natured four-footed creature, which could well become a friend of the Hoffmann cat of Murra, if it were not transformed into a human being. The ball rightly approached the definition of people, seeing the soul in their eyes.

The form of clothing Sharik ignored, as the wisest of people. Professor Preobrazhensky made a great impression on the dog in their first meeting, which provoked great changes in the fate of the heroes. It is worth noting that the organs transplanted by Sharik were taken from a person three times convicted, loving booze and fighting.

What are the problems in the story "The Dog's Heart"

The first problem is that the professor "wanted better", but it turned out differently. The experiment, conceived for good purposes, gave frightening and disgusting results. The very appearance of the humanoid being expressed a low and vicious nature. His forehead was sitting quite low, saying that you should not expect rational behavior from him. "Human" qualities of the donor overpowered the "canine" features of the recipient.

The evolution of the dog, which can be characterized by degradation, gives the creator many troubles. Preobrazhensky understands that the newly created Polygraph Polygraphovich needs cultural ennobling, seeing how he conducts dialogues with others, how much is dissolved and malicious.

Attempts to change the natural mentality of Sharikov become the second unsolvable task for the professor. A man with a dog's heart completely denies theater and books, good tone and humility, passionately rushing into vices, playfulness and boundless selfishness. This problem of the "Dog Heart" is superimposed on the first, increasingly inflating the unbearable rejection of the negative element by a decent environment.

In the ironic grotesque, the problem of the relationship between the intelligentsia and the common people after the revolution is reflected in The Dog Heart. Bastards also need to have their mentor. Stepping through hatred and envy, Sharikov acquires such a teacher in the face of the chairman of the house committee of Shvonder. Bulgakov vividly describes, through the prism of the actions and aspirations of the "subhuman" proper attitude to such people.

Marginal hates the person who works with his head, and when he comes to power, he greedily rushes to the riches, destroys the beautiful and does not know mercy, especially to those who used to be in his environment. What problems does the "Dog Heart" consider? Including the interaction of different sectors of society.

How to deal with the monster?

Finding in his creation, on which pinned great hopes, the enemy and informer, the professor saw only one way - to return everything to its place. A wise proverb says: nature does not tolerate violence. Preobrazhensky understood his mistakes and heeded the voice of reason, saying that such experiments do not lead to good. Let the return to the initial state be the fair ending of the story, the main purpose of which was a sarcastic mockery of existing orders and grotesque attempts to correct the essence of the individual.

Prerequisites for writing the story

It is quite obvious that the revolutionary events of 1917 excited everyone who is not alien to the history of the great Russian state. His opinion was M. A. Bulgakov, gracefully deployed in the pages of the sensational story "The Heart of a Dog." The great experiences with regard to the landmark coup, which brought, like any revolution, huge human losses, gave colossal potential to thinking people. A penetrating view from the side sees more clearly the shortcomings of government. But only those who wish the best for others are happy to hear criticism.

Short summary

  • Sharikov, thanks to his own agility, envious mind and denial of everything intellectual, rises from the bottom of the social ladder to unprecedented heights, which promise him the right to create unpunished evil.
  • The immoral intentions of a once good dog are denied by people who desired it, and are encouraged by cunning and greedy "friends" who can betray when you are no longer needed.
  • Professor Preobrazhensky, who has the right of paternity, decides to return everything to its proper place. "I gave birth to you, I will kill you", - the doctor could well say, who has cultivated a monster, personifying a cunning and envious depravity.
  • The problems of Bulgakov's "Dog Heart" are still relevant, not to mention the fact that they existed at the dawn of mankind.
