Do we lose the instinct of self-preservation?

The medical encyclopedia defines an instinct as an unconditioned reflex, having a complex nature, and manifested as a congenital stereotyped reaction to the action of certain stimuli.

Long ago, at the beginning of time, our ancestors, stuffing cones, developed a set of behavioral stereotypes. You can not climb into the mouth to the lion - you will be scratched, you can not jump from the top of the rock - you will hurt yourself. And in general: without knowing the ford, do not poke into the water! This is all - the instinct of life, or rather, the instinct of self-preservation for the sake of life.

Instinct is what was laid in the ancestral memory of both animals and people, not letting them disappear from the face of the Earth, and what is now safely eradicated by people.

Instinct does not allow to die

The child, appearing in the light, brings with him and the memory of the ancestors, incorporated in his genes in the form of instinct. He instinctively makes sucking movements to satisfy hunger, and cries, demanding attention to his person. He, from the moment of birth, bears and is guarded by the mighty instinct of self-preservation. He does not let the baby die of hunger or freeze, unable to call for help.

And then, growing up, the child begins to lose this instinct. Yes, yes, do not be surprised! In our modern world everything is so confused and biased that even the basic wild instinct - the instinct of self-preservation - begins to wear off.

Ward eradicates the instinct of self-preservation

We are taking care of the baby. After all, we are so afraid that he can not do anything, he does not understand, and he can do harm to himself. Where did this come from? It's just that we grew up in the same conditions. And they shouted to us: "Do not touch, you will burn yourself!", "Do not run, you will fall!"

But it turns out that if a child is allowed to explore the world and believe in his instincts, he will not get burned and fall, because we will not create around him a halo of an inept helpless creature.

If we believe researchers who have lived in wild tribes for a long time , then the instinct of self-preservation is an amazing mechanism that turns on as soon as the child begins to explore the world around him. Children in these tribes do not fall into pits and are not burned by fire, although they are not followed by constant observation from the elders.

According to psychologists, it is exactly that the child is given the right to take responsibility for his life, and makes him include the instinct of self-preservation. And he, believe me, will work much better than my mother, who herself decides how to act to the child at every moment of his life, and selects, therefore, his right.

The consequences of the loss of the instinct of self-preservation

And then a new generation appears that does not appreciate, can not value life. After all, from the very beginning, from infancy, these people heard: "You can not, you do not know, you do not know how." They are afraid of life they do not know and, accordingly, can not be true To dispose of it. What should they value? Why is it needed - this life? And the person subconsciously joins the game with life, constantly checking it for strength. Alcohol, drug addiction, wild games of teenagers, unjustified risk in entertainment is a sign that humanity has lost the basic instinct of self-preservation.

We, developing, lost touch with their natural habitat. Replacing instinctive behavior by reasonable. But the intellect played a cruel joke with us. We, ascended to heaven, ceased to feel the ground under our feet, lost support and, in the end, lost our way.
