Arachnoidal changes in the liquorcystic nature. Symptoms and Treatment
The brain has several membranes. One of them is called arachnoid. The space beneath it (subarachnoidal) containing the cerebrospinal fluid, or, in a different way, the cerebrospinal fluid, in some cases widens, forming the so-called cysts - the benign cava-filled cavities filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
Causes and symptoms of arachnoid cyst
Arachnoidal changes in the liquorcystic nature - this is the appearance of cavities in the arachnoid shell of the brain. They can arise as a result of any pathological processes that disrupt the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the cranial cavity.
These include brain concussions, especially untreated, other traumas, as well as meningitis and encephalitis. Because of disturbances in the movement of the cerebrospinal fluid, the ducts filled with it are expanded, and the membranes of the brain are squeezed. This, as a rule, leads to a steady increase in intracranial pressure. Therefore, arachnoidal changes of the liquorcystic nature so often cause headaches, manifested after physical and emotional stress. They can be very strong, causing nausea and even vomiting. However, in the case when the cyst is a consequence of a long-term illness, the manifestation of any symptoms may be absent.
Arachnoidal changes in the liquorcystic nature. Treatment
If you find these symptoms (not necessarily all at once), then before you, most likely, a picture of arachnoidal changes in the liquorcystic nature. And you need to urgently consult a neurologist. By the way, arachnoid cysts occur much more often in the male part of the population and mostly in childhood or adolescence.
Please note that arachnoidal changes in the liquorcystic nature are, as a rule, not a separate disease. They accompany various circulatory disorders, infections, autoimmune diseases.
Dimensions of the cyst are controlled by MR-tomography or CT. Treatment is conducted
Small cystic formations basically do not show themselves much. A person can live to a very old age, without suspecting that he had a cyst.
If there are no complaints, and arachnoidal changes in the liquorcystic nature are only a reflection of the ratio of the size of the brain and its membranes, treatment is not required.
