Regulating valves: types, parameters, purpose

The regulating armature is a wide list of functional structures intended for the distribution of flows and the overlapping of working fluids, the regulation of parameters of individual technological processes. In particular, changes in the parameters of pressure, temperature, head, quantity of feed substances are carried out by changing the flow rate of the transported media. Mounted control valves in piping systems, tanks and aggregates where distribution or disconnection of used or trans-transported media is required.

The main types of fittings

  1. Regulating valves - the main purpose is to regulate the specified parameters of working media. It includes all kinds of bypass valves, balancing and reduction valves .
  2. Shut-off valves - used to shut off flows when moving media. Among the most common types of shut-off valves are: shutters to block the flow of liquids, ball valves, wedge-shaped valves, valves.

Elements of control valves

Regulating valves operate on the basis of the following elements:

  • Control valves;
  • Mixing valves;
  • Control valves;
  • Pressure regulators.

Appointment

The control armature is used to support the required, specified values of certain technological processes due to the regulation of the flow of specific working media.

According to the design, the fittings of a regulating nature are practically indistinguishable from the shut-off valve. In some systems, the same control valve can be used for its intended purpose and as a shut-off valve.

Varieties of control valves

  1. Photo separating - is used when it is necessary to separate the working media, which are in different states.
  2. Condensation - used to eliminate condensate, limited pass or overlap of superheated steam streams.
  3. Protective shut-off and control valves - is aimed at automatic protection of pipelines and equipment from unintended or unacceptable changes in the functioning of the pipeline system.
  4. Control - is designed to control the flow of working media into measuring and control devices.
  5. Mixing and distribution - distributes individual flows of working media in different directions or takes a direct part in the need for their mixing.
  6. Throttling - is used when it is necessary to reduce the pressure of working media in systems that operate under conditions of significant sharp pressure drops.
  7. Irrevocable - reverse reinforcement, in which it is possible to force the opening, limit or close the stroke.

Features of choice

Since in most cases efficiency depends on the level of reliability and durability of the armature, the high stability of the functioning of the entire pipeline system, the most important point is its choice. Here you should pay attention not to the following points:

  1. Select adjustable valves should be based on the determining operating conditions: the nature of the working environment, temperature, pressure indicators in the system.
  2. Important in the selection of control valves is the compliance of its characteristics with the conditional diameter of the passage.
  3. Before you tend to buy reinforcement, you need to clarify the method of its control: remote, manual, based on an electric, hydro- or pneumatic drive.
  4. Initially, it is necessary to determine the material of the body: cast iron, corrosion-resistant steel, bronze, and others.
  5. The armature is purchased depending on the purpose of the individual elements: an adjustable or safety valve, a valve, a valve.
  6. Important are the geometric parameters, with which the adjustable armature is distinguished: length, height, flange types, sizes and number of bolts, etc.
  7. It is necessary to check in advance the compliance of the characteristics and parameters of the selected valve with the specified requirements and the conditions for the operation of the pipeline system.
